Sol Invictus

Sol Invictus, Latin, unconquered Sun
The worship of the sun is a temptation that has lead to syncretism of many religions in with Christianity. Thus the reason we celebrate Christmas on December 25. The reality is we are always tempted to join our religions, culture, ethnic points of view, Political Points of view, Sexual points of view. We are always tempted to push our and the worlds desires on the scriptures.
This is something that we must watch out for.
Nevertheless we have joined together not for false worship, but for worship of the divine. Jesus fully God and Fully man. When The Christian church first emerged the celebration of Jesus the Messiah was dis-unified and celebrated on many days. In an attempt to unify the celebration for lots of reasons good and bad December 25th was chosen. So then we gather here to celebrate. The birth of the risen savior. Something that sounds and is straight from mythology. and has been talked about for years in story, but here a man who was also God did.
Matthew 1:18–25 LEB
Now the birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. So Joseph her husband, being righteous and not wanting to disgrace her, intended to divorce her secretly. But as he was considering these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. And she will give birth to a son, and you will call his name ‘Jesus,’ because he will save his people from their sins.” Now all this happened in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying, “Behold, the virgin will become pregnant and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” And Joseph, when he woke up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and he took his wife and did not have sexual relations with her until she gave birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Ἰησοῦν - Yesous - Jesus
Born God with us. and what a gift it is God with us.
And the wonderful thing is God is still with us. Jesus is at the right had of the father working as our intercessor but the Holy Spirit is the gift that is giving to us right now. Working around through and in us. What a blessing
Amen
Jesus Still working alive today. We celebrate the birth because with out this birth there would be no death and resurrection to save us from the punishment of our sin which is death.
We can get caught up in the historicity of Jesus and forget the truth of what he is. The Savior. We are disciples of Jesus. What a better time to remember our rebirth.
