The Peace and Joy of God
Phil. 4:1-9
We live in a world that gives us a false sense of security; we live in a world where we assume that bad things won’t happen to us. We live in the land of the free and home of the brave. We live in a country that declares in God we trust. The Global Peace index state that the US is ranked 38 in the world.
Many times, in the world, peace is circumstantial. When the circumstances align, when you agree or come to an agreement then and only then can peace be had.
Peace is often negotiated for the purpose of bringing an end to the conflict. Because of this to have peace in the world everything must line up. This is not how God’s peace works. The peace of God does not come because there is agreement. The Peace of God comes because Alignment!!!!
There are times when the circumstances are so at odds with each other that it would make peace seem impossible because there is too much chaos.
1. God’s Peace is Different
Paul tells them to be standfast in the Lord.
God peace will allow you to standfast
In other word God gives you a Peace that you Can handle it!
God will give you a peace so you can handle the chaos, with calm that he gives you.
An EAGLE can handle the winds of the storm because he has learned how to handle the chaos of the storm. He can handle the rain, he can hand the winds, because he knows how to keep calm and glide in the storm because he knows how rise above the storm.
The God of Peace puts you in
Alignment – with the Will of God
When you get in alignment you get an
Adjustment, you make adaptions,
you come in agreement,
you come into an alliance and
you gain an association
If you are of Alignment, you are always pulling against the Will of God and you don’t have peace.
That’s why God peace is different it puts you in Alignment with God’s Will, Way, and God’s Word.
God’s Peace is Different, God’s Peace is a Defense
2. God’s Peace is a Defense
Phil. 4:7
God’s Peace It stands watch over your heart in the same way a military guard stands watch. This is what the word means in the Greek.
The peace of God will watch over your heart and mind.
It is a DEFENSE against Depression, Anxiety, Worry, or Fear to keep them out so you can remain calm and focused in the midst of your situation.
Jesus Said
Jn. 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Is 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”
Peter said in
1 Pet. 5:7 “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
God’s Peace is my Defense.
Legendary football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant famously said, “Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships.”
Not only is God’s Peace Different and God’s Peace is my Defense.
God’s Peace Dwells and Swells.
2 Thess. 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.”
It Dwells within me!!! God Peace is on the inside of me and because it Swell!!!
I got the Holy Ghost inside of me that’s why I have peace.
The Peace of God Produces the Joy of God!!!!
as I was examining the text vs 4
Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
Peace Produce Joy!!!
If I have Peace, I can have Joy!!!
As a third-century man was anticipating death, he penned these last words to a friend: "It's a bad world, an incredibly bad world. But I have discovered in the midst of it a quiet and holy people who have learned a great secret. They have found a joy which is a thousand times better than any pleasure of our sinful life. They are despised and persecuted, but they care not. They are masters of their souls. They have overcome the world. These people are the Christians--and I am one of them."
This Joy I have the World didn’t give and the World can’t take it Away.
