The Light of the World
Chapter 7 was during the Feast of Tabernacles that was celebrated on the 15th day of the seventh month to commemorate the wilderness wandering of 40 years.
They would make booths or tents of palm and willow trees and live in them during the eight-day festival.
On the evening of the first night of the feast there was a ceremony called the Illumination of the Temple, which involved the lighting of a huge golden candelabra in the Court of the Women.
This huge candelabra gave a tremendous amount of light.
The light was a reminder that God had guided and protected his people with a pillar of fire.
