· A common Jewish greeting is Shalom, which means peace
II. What is Peace?
· “Historians have defined peace in the world as the lull in the battle when everybody stops to reload.” John MacArthur
· Hebrew = Shalom, used about 250 times in the Old Testament
· Means wholeness, completeness, soundness, health, safety and prosperity, carrying with the implication of permanence.
· Greek = Eirn (Er Rain nah)
· It literally describes a tranquil state of the soul, a soul at rest, a satisfied soul. That is the Biblical view of peace
