Good Morning

Convoy of Hope $7,000
Today we begin a new series called Like a Child
We are basing this entire series around a story found in the book of Mark chapter 10.
Mark 10:13–16 (ESV)
13 And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
The entire premise of this series is wrapped around this on verse Mark 10:15
Mark 10:15 (ESV)
15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Jesus is not telling us to be childish---most people today are pretty good at that.
Jesus is telling us to be Childlike.....because lets face it adults have a tendency of over complicating things.
For the next four weeks we are going to look at four different attributes of God from the perspective of a child.
Today we are going to cover the goodness of God. A child would say it this way

1. MY GOD IS FOR ME. (Goodness)

Next week we are going to cover the presence of God or as a child would say:

2. MY GOD IS WITH ME. (Presence)

In week three we're going to look at the grace of God and a child would say:

3. MY GOD FORGIVES ME. (Grace)

And then in the fourth week we are going to look at the Virgin Birth, the power of God. The theological term is the Omnipotence of God, He is All-Powerful. As a Child would say it:

4. MY GOD CAN DO ANYTHING! (Power)

Here is the idea we hope you take away from this entire series.
If you want to experience all that Gad wants for you, you need to have faith like a child.
Today let’s unpack God’s goodness from the perspective of a child.

My God is For Me!

If you have a child being raised up in Freedom Kids you can trust that they are going to be taught the Goodness of God!
It is on of the foundations of Christian education.
The sing songs:
Jesus Loves the Little Children
Jesus is My Super Hero
Jesus Love me
The are taught a very simple faith in the goodness of God! This has been the ear mark for those who have been raised in the church.
But as we get older that Child likeness begins to be chipped away by disappointments.
Divorce......Death.......Moving..........the list gets bigger and bigger the older we get.
Until some of us get like this Kid name Kyle. Kyle wrote a poem which has been made into a video. Lets watch that video together.
A lot of us feel like Kyle.....Disappointed with life and believing a lie......Satan does not want you to believe that God is for you.
How ever when we return to our Child like Faith and begin to read our Bibles we find rather quickly that God tells us over and over again that He is for us. Let’s look at a couple of those Scriptures.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Romans 8:31–32 (ESV)
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

WHEN I REALIZE GOD IS FOR ME THREE THINGS BEGIN TO HAPPEN.

1. I DON’T HIDE FROM GOD BUT RUN TO GOD.

Where are you little one?
When I believe that God is against me I tend to hide from him like Adam did in the garden
Genesis 3:10 (ESV)
10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”
A visitor and the sour patch kids.
When we do fire education at schools we teach kids to run to the Firefighter. We are your line to safety.
We should look at God the same way.
Proverbs 18:10 (ESV)
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

2. I DON’T LIVE FOR GOD’S APPROVAL BUT FROM HIS APPROVAL.

Romans 5:8 (ESV)
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

3. I DON’T FEAR WHAT HAPPENS TOME BECAUSE I KNOW GOD IS WORKING IN ME.

Romans 8:28 (ESV)
28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Philippians 2:13 (ESV)
13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Many of you know that I got into some trouble as a young teenager and was sent to live with my Grandparents in Texas.
What was supposed to be a 6 month thing turned into a three year into college thing.
In that time this I will never be good enough insecurity began to build up in me.
While at the same time God’s calling on my life began to grow louder.
In one ear I had the enemy speaking you will never be good enough
Theater........Youth Group..........
In the other ear I could hear God speaking.........
Youth Camp......Started Singing.........
Fast forward to College and Mistakes....Early adulthood and 10 years in the cooperate climb the ladder world.
Finally I gave into God.....Failed three times and then God brought us here by the request of the elders and Pastor Case.
Psalm 66:16 ESV
16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
Through these last 6 years God has constantly reminded me through.... those Elders and Pastor Case that all that time He was for me and He still is for me.
Today in spite of the enemy’s voice...........
I have seen this church reach new levels through my leadership and submission to God.
God has used my life experience to reach other and connect others to Him
More and More the enemies voice is growing quieter and God’s voice is ringing clear.
With that said let’s return to Kyle’s Poem..... There is more to this Story.
Today we have begun a four week journey....My hope is that through this 4 weeks you would begin to hear Gods voice a little bet clearer.
Today I want you to hear this........Read this.....and believe this statement.

God is For You!

You are not here by accident!
Neither your past or your parents dictate your the plans and the future He has for you.
God is the Coach rooting you on.
He is the Father boasting about his child.
Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Stand with me this morning!
I want to pray for two areas this morning.
Those who have forgotten God is For them
Those who have not began their journey with him.
Romans 10:9–10 (ESV)
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Now as you leave this building today with the knowledge that God is for you here are your instructions for the week.
We are not consumer Christians.....Saved People Serve People.
Because I know that My God is for me.....

I WILL LIVE WITH OVERFLOWING APPRECIATION.

Psalm 66:16 (ESV)
16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.

I WILL LIVE WITH DIVINE ANTICIPATION.

Isaiah 12:2 (ESV)
2 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
