Life of Jacob.
This series explores the highs and lows of Jacob in Genesis.
Through Jacob’s birth, family conflict, and relationship with God, we see God’s redemptive plan on the move.
God transforms Jacob from a deceptive young man into Israel: the one who wrestles with God.
We have see a lot in the that has happened in Jacob life up to this point.
Week one we saw the promise of God that Jacob would rule over his older bother.
When God makes a promise it will come true.
Week 2 we saw how Esau sold his birthright because he was hungry.
We can not chase short-term success.
It will often short-circuit your goals in life.
We must make our decisions based on God’s promised future.
Week 3 we saw how Jacob took thing into his own hand and deceived his father by stealing Esau blessing.
By being deceitful Jacob almost destroyed his family because of this Jacob had to run.
Being deceitful can and will destroy your life.
While we may still receive God’s blessing, trying to achieve the blessing through deceitful means can lead to disastrous results in our personal lives.
Week 4 we Jacob running away to save his life.
While he was running he had a dream.
God told Jacob that he was still with him and will protect him despite all that he had done.
No matter what you have done.
God still loves you.
Last week we saw Jacob wrestle with God.
This was a big moment in Jacob life.
Half this God told Jacob that his name woul be changed to Israel.
In order for us to encounter God we must go through a massive transformation in our lives
This week we going to be look at a another big moment Jacob life.

Are the thing you value take the place of you worshiping God? should we be putting anything before God? Lets take a look at what happens in Jacob life this week.
God commands Jacob “Get up and go!”
other translation say arise.
God wanted Jacob to go now.
Bethal Why? it was about 30 years since Jacob had seen God at Bethal.
This place was the first place that Jacob meant God.
Stairway to heaven.
In those 30 years Jacob had forgot the vow that he made to God.
The promise he made and most like forgot about the place all together.
Since God had to remind him that it was the place he fled from Esau.
Jacob commands his family to do three things
Rid yourself of foreign gods/idols
What is an idol?
Anything that takes the place of God in your life
What are these thing for us?
Money
Job
family
Tv
Social Media
What did Jacob family give up?
all foreign gods
their earrings
Jacob hide these things
Why?
They need to not be found again
how many time have you fallen back into the use of an idol when you did not get rid of it.
Purify yourselves
Clean
Wash yourself
A bath
Change Clothes
IT was all part of make themself clean before head to meet God at Bethel.
God blesses Jacob again
Reaffirms that Jacob shall be called Israel
be fruit full and multiply

What can we learn from Jacob?
When God tell us to do something we must do it right way.
We have to remember the promise that God has given us.
We must give up all idol that we have to follow God and his commands
We must be willing to meet with God day.
Not just on Sunday.
