Romans 8:28–39 NIV84
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1. You are chosen by God

One of the greatest mysteries is why God chose me
There are many others that are better qualified
Why are you here?
Others exist that are better qualified
People look at the outside
God looks at the heart
God saw something in your heart that is a mystery to you
He knows you better than you know yourself
His design and plans are perfect
You are part of His perfect plan
Don’t give up, God is for you

2. Remember what Jesus has done

He chose to leave the majesty of Heaven to come to a fallen world
He chose that because of you
Jesus suffered an unconceivable punishment for a crime He did not commit
He did not quit when things got tough
He did not give up because He was tired
He did not stop trying because it was difficult
He went all the way because He loves us
Jesus died a sinner’s death
Jesus was buried
Jesus was raised on the third day, thereby, defeating sin and death
He ascended to the right hand of the Father to be our representative
Unlike our earthly representatives that only represent themselves or the highest bidder
Jesus represents those that repent and choose to follow Him
He is for us

3. Remember that God is for us

Paul asks, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
This question does not imply that no one will come against us
Jesus said we would have trouble
We are always fighting against the enemy of our souls
We endure the hate of the haters—too much hateraid
We endure sickness, disease, pain, heartache, disappointment, betrayal, need, dry seasons, and much more
The answer could be that many will be against us but none of them matter
If it’s true—repent
If it’s not true—don’t worry about it
When God is for you, it doesn’t matter who is against you
His love for you is deeper than the ocean
His love for you is higher than the heavens
His love for you is wider than the east and west combined
His love never fails
He justified us. Meaning, no one has a charge against us that will stick
God is for us

4. Remember that you are equipped to overcome

We have many pressures against us (trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, sword
Those troubles will never compare with our Equipper and equipment
We are more than conquerors because He is for us
His love for us is more than enough for our success
Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ
Death is not strong enough
The trials of life do not compare
The demonic spirits cannot dissuade His love
If your past did not eliminate you from His love, your future doesn’t stand a chance
Nothing created can keep us from His love
The uncreated cannot keep us from His love
God is for us

5. Don’t worry; God is for us

1 Pet 5:7 “casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.”
Mt 6:25 “Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?”
Phil 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Don’t worry be happy
