· Romans 1—The Gospel Is the Power of God

Romans 1 Paul begins by admitting to being a slave to Jesus Christ and declaring Jesus’ power which was given by God to him as his rightful heir and son, The son of God who gives man grace and deserves faithful obedience for his name’s sake. Paul shows his thankfulness to the fact that the Gospel which has salvific power is being spread throughout the world and his own personal longing to impart spiritual gifts to the children of God but bringing to attention that God has a will for us to follow and has the power to let us follow that will by highlighting his inability to do so by prevention, Paul emphasizes the obligation he has to God and the people to preach the power filled Gospel and stating he is unashamed of Such a Gospel: “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”-Romans 1: 16 NASB. He gives providence to God’s righteousness and rightful wrath on man, Reminding and introducing to the Jews & Gentiles Habakkuk 2 that gives the instructions that the righteous live by faith. Paul showcases the fact that God since the beginning has 1: remained the same, 2: has attributes of eternal power and divine nature which have been visible for all to see giving man no excuse for their continual disobedience and mockery of God by dishonoring God with empty and meaningless form of worship. “ 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. “- Romans 1: 21-24 NASB. God’s creation strays and goes against God’s rule by indulging in sexual immorality and idolatry(the worship of idols) exchanging the truth of God for a lie. therefore God gives them over their desires and their sinful human nature. “ 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”- Romans 1: 30-32 NASB. Romans 1 letter that raises a case against God’s creation in order to let us understand who Jesus is and why we need his Gospel also highlighting his grace to mankind.
