Study Point 1: The Gospel engages the mind 1) Discuss how Peter uses the Old Testament to engage the mind of his Jewish audience. 2) How can you engage the mind of those with whom you desire to share the gospel? Point 2: The Gospel exposes the heart READ Joel 2:12–32 3) What does the Lord mean by “return to me with all your heart”? What do these verses reveal about the Lord’s character? What is promised to the people of Israel? 4) How can we ensure we have turned to the Lord with our whole heart? What exposes sin in our hearts? How can we implement this command into discipling one another? What role does the Holy Spirit play in our lives according to this passage? Point 3: The Gospel transforms the life READ Psalm 16 5) Peter quotes part of this Psalm to refer to Jesus’ resurrection. How else does this Psalm reveal Jesus’ relationship with the Father? 6) David develops his dependance on the Lord in this Psalm; in what ways does he depend on the Lord? How can we use this psalm to understand how the gospel transforms our lives? Pray the passage Jesus we praise you as our Lord and Christ . . . Savior of all who call upon your name . . . King of kings and Lord of lords. We ask Lord that you would continue to fill us with your Spirit so that we can boldly proclaim your gospel as Peter does in his sermon in Acts. Give us wisdom and understanding so that we can share the hope we have with those who are lost. Spirit we ask that you would move us to repentance in the areas that we may have neglected to turn from in our lives. Expose areas of sin and remove them by your sanctifying power. Lord, we ask that you would continue calling your people in our towns and cities, neighborhoods and houses. Place us in the path of non-believers so that we can proclaim your excellencies. Lord, continue to transform our lives so that we look more and more like you. In Jesus name, Amen. Memorize & Meditate “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21).
