Intro

There are way more things everyday that we are completely unaware of than aware of. Obviously.
But some things that are happening to us, in us an around us we don’t even realize.
Glasses on head, booger in nose, food in teeth, open zipper. (We all have a story!!)
Blood oxygenating, Cells dividing, we are spinning with the earth at around 1000 mph.
If we are unaware of these things, it makes me wonder, what else are we unaware of?
Some the things don’t matter, some things we really know need to be aware of, but there are other things can be detrimental if we continue to let them be unrealized and unknown.
arterial blockage. Those glasses.
There is a major area that most people live unaware of but it’s very real and it really matters.
THE SUPERNATURAL, THE SPIRITUAL.
Just beyond our sight, under the surface of everything is a spiritual and supernatural force and realm at work.
If we are honest we don’t even need to “see” it because build within us is a spiritual longing and supernatural yearning.
We say there has to be more, we know there must be deeper meaning.
we all feel that pull to the spiritual but many don’t know what to do with it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV)
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are made up of body, soul and spirit.
These invisible parts of us are just as real as your physicality and they long for something we can’t see.
In Ephesians Paul refers to this multiple times as “heavenly places”
This isn’t just a place far in the sky, but a space very real and here and now.

There is a very real unseen spiritual realm that we have to live aware of.

2 Kings 6:14–17 (NIV)
Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
changed how they viewed what they saw when they became aware of the unseen around them.
We need spiritual eyes to understand there is way more than we see.
There is real danger in not understanding that there is a spiritual reality, What we see is not all that there is.
If we never have a an understanding of the spiritual, we will never have a clear picture of true reality of our lives.
We can never truly understand God and the implications of bible without knowledge and awareness of a spiritual reality.
Most would at least acknowledge sure God is spirit so there is spiritual, but we don’t live with an awareness that this unseen reality is at play in our everyday.

There are things you cannot see that affect things you can see.

A couple of almost odd scripture...
2 Corinthians 12:2–4 (ESV)
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.
Daniel 10:12–14 (ESV)
Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.”
At times people in the bible had glimpses of the spirit realm.
It’s not inconsequential, it impacts and affects the reality that we do see.
Tony Evans
That which is physical and visible is preceded by that which is invisible and spiritual.
Hebrews 8:5 (ESV)
They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.”
Hebrews 9:24 (ESV)
For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
Hebrews 11:1–3 (NIV)
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS MEAN??
There are forces at play.
Good and Evil
Light and Dark.
There are spiritual beings.
What all is under the surface??
Hauntings? Ghosts? Vampires?
NO....
Not in the sense we have viewed them.
The bible leave no room for the undead to be roaming around.
Hebrews 9:27 (ESV)
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
2 Corinthians 5:8 (NIV)
We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
There are the forces of God and Satan
Demons and the demonic
Angels, Archangels, cherubim, seraphim etc.
Satan is a fallen angel that rebelled against God.
Demons are fallen angels who followed Satan.
Angels are God’s messengers and warriors.
What about things like Tarot Cards, Physic, Seances, Ouija boards etc?
God explicitly warned us to stay away from any an all things of the sort.
If it is spiritual but not of God, it is demonic. these are not innocent ventures but invitations of spiritual forces.
Gods plan is to bless and fulfill
Satans goal is to distract, deceive, corrupt and destroy
John 10:10 (NIV)
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Satans deceptions began in the Garden of Eden.
This was a place where heaven and earth overlapped (God walked freely)
Adam and Eve’s act to listen to Satan instead of God invited in the darkness of sin into the world.
A world now cut off from God’s presence, in spiritual darkness because of Sin.
Satan and his demons orchestrate sin and chaos and darkness. Lostness.
Jesus came to restore humanities broken connection back to God.
To be the light in the darkness.
John 8:12 (NIV)
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Those who belong to Jesus belong to the light.
Colossians 1:13 (NIV)
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
1 Thessalonians 5:5 (NIV)
You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
There is an unseen battle for the souls of humanity.
Satan is real
Demons are real.
They are powerful.
If we belong to Christ, We don’t need to be afraid of the demonic but we do need to be aware.
We have authority in Christ.
Luke 10:19 (NIV)
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
In Christ we are more than conquerors, we are overcomers, we are victorious.
But we need to be aware and discern there is more going on than what we see.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Knowing this changes how we view and life life everyday.
Not living in fear, but with clarity.
This awareness:
MOTIVATES OUR MOMENTS
1 Thessalonians 4:13 (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
We can live with a hope.
we have hope, purpose and peace in each and every step, knowing that there is more.
So what I do and how I live matters!!
FOCUSES OUR FIGHT
Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
It’s not just your boss, or your spouse, or your whatever.
It’s not a physical fight.
We spend too much time fighting in the physical what is the spiritual.
Awareness of the spiritual exposes the enemy!
ADJUSTS OUR ATTENTION
Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
It shows us where our attention should be.
Where I focus matters.
So many of us live with no attention at all on spiritual things, and that is one of Satan’s greatest wins.
Live like it doesn’t matter.
Is my life really committed what what is really most important?

WHAT DO WE DO?

My challenge

LIVE HEAVENLY MINDED, BUT EARTHLY GROUNDED

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
We live here. Now.
To make a difference, to be the light, To live out all that God has for us, to make the most of every moment.
But we live with a heavenly mindset.
There is more is play and more at stake than what we see.
Living aware of the unseen give us more clarity in what we do.
What have you been seeing?
There is more..
