Over the past few weeks, we have been unpacking these themes from 1 Peter, showing how central they are in the Christian life. We have seen the amazing living hope Christians have secured for them through Jesus Christ. We have also seen how Christians are called to live holy lives in a hostile world. Now in 1 Peter things get gritty. As we continue our journey through this letter, Peter next wants to show us what holiness looks like in action – in the trenches of day-to-day life. This week Peter begins with a weighty topic. That is, the call to submit. As Christians we are called to submit. Immediately this might spark several questions for you. What or who are we called to submit to? Why are we called to submit? How does this play out in day-to-day life? Peter helps answer some of these questions by showing us what submission looks like in three spheres of life. Peter shows us the wonderful opportunity Christians have to live radical, yet attractive lives for the sake of the Gospel.
