Call to Worship
Acts 2:42–47 NKJV
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Proverbs 11:25 NKJV
25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.
Matthew 5:7 NKJV
7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.

Let’s Look at the root of Mercy,

Ephesians 2:4–5 NKJV
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

God is merciful because of His great love.

How is your love for God expressed in your love for others?

God our Father is so great in love that while we where dead in our sins that same perfect Heavenly Father sent Jesus to die for us!

we where dead without life and God spent the Holy Spirit to draw us from a world of sin to eternal life!

How then can those of us who have been given so much give so little?

how do we show mercy?

Not from the flesh, rather this is from a place of the spirits work.

Mercy cannot come from our own supply, it must come from a deep meditation in the presence of God.

When I feel as if I have been wronged, I am already in the wrong because I have put myself in the middle of it all instead of the Lord first.

this is great news! I have an ally in our pain, it is the Lord,

We take our pain and in some cases our egos and entitlements to the Lord of all.

As we take our time and allow ourselves to wrestle with our Lord, our flesh will give way, the Holy Spirit has His way… Mercy moves out of our lives like the crushing of the olive produces mercy, true mercy that the holy spirit uses to bring healing to the lives of others.

one of the greatest joys of my life has been to allow the pain and suffering in my life to be in some small sense is allowed to be the salve that brings healing to the lives of others!

the scripture tells us that those who show mercy will be shown mercy! the reverse is equally too.

Mark 11:26 NKJV
26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

no mercy shown, no mercy given. no forgiveness shown no forgiveness given.
