I was second. Welcome. Slide today. Welcome. This is the Church of Messiah. Why do I have this up? Because it's We're at the beginning of Leviticus. And at the beginning of Leviticus. I always kind of have a kind of a concern cuz people shy away from the book. They don't, they don't, they don't want to study Leviticus, their kind of scared about it. They're kind of like Mary Sylvia. I want to read about all this blood and stuff. It's no good. It's it's it's not fun. No, it's not fun. But Leviticus is based on the sacrificial system in the sacrificial system is based on Jesus sacrifice before time before God created a single thing. Jesus said. Okay, I'm in. He knew what he was going to do many. You want to say years later, but this is outside of time. God made an agreement with himself about what he would do to save us from sin outside of time. And then, they lived it out in time at the fullness of time. Not a second before it had to happen that way. And if we, if we say I don't want to talk about the blood in Leviticus. I don't want to talk about the sacrifice in Leviticus. Then I kind of have to say You know what to talk about? Jesus?

You don't want to talk about what the blood does for you.

It's important. Leviticus interesting. Lee enough in the early church, and in the history of Judaism was the first book memorized by 5 year old kids.

Why why would they want to do that? We'll talk about that later, but I thought, okay. You need an introduction before we start talking about the blood, you need an introduction to what the heck is going on here. So in the words of an old friend, John, McFarland, Our father is a father who loves to play with his kids. He has two favorite things. He loves to play, hide and seek. With his kids. He knows where he is. He just wants to. Let us know. He wants us to try to find him. So we have to kind of see come out. and, He's always there. And we know he's there. We don't need to know, he's there to know, he's there. What we have to do, what we have to seek him out. We have to presume. We have to chase them. We have to try to figure out how he's hiding. We need to read the Bible and try to figure out what you trying to say to me. Hear what's going on? So he loves to play with his kids, loves to play hide-and-seek, and he also loves to Go camping.

Anyone see the screensaver? Yeah, it looks a lot like The 10th that my wife and I bought when we decided to go camping for the honeymoon.

And we set this tent up all over the place and camped in it. Very elegantly for tent camping. I had a queen-size inflatable bed, but

It was, it was very beautiful and I have wonderful memories of camping with my wife. And some not so wonderful memories of. Challenges along the way. But that's, that's camping. When I think of camping. This is what I see, always is imagining my wife and I camping on her honeymoon. Beautiful. God had a different idea for a tent.

We've been talking about it. The people of Israel gathered together roughly 70 million dollars in gold silver, bronze Etc. A little bit more costly than my tent. A little bit more glorious than my tent a lot more going on. In this tent. He's got a nice campfire there too, huh?

The altar of sacrifice, but at the root of it, is this idea of God wants to temporarily dwell with us. He wants to go camping with us. He wants to He wants to do well with us in our midst. How can a God? So big become so small that he could exist in such a small place as a human body calls mentioned this before. How could an infinite God collapse himself into 1 cubed Square rupley?

I don't know. That's glorious. They wants to go camping with his people.

Another picture.

Imagine, if you will that you've just been in his real, you've actually gone through the Exodus. You've left Egypt, and you are

Going to the base of the mountain. You've heard God Speak. You've seen him, if you're one of the elders, you saw his feet. You ate a meal in his presence. And you found out that he wants to dwell in your midst. He wants to go camping with you. I remember when I was a kid when my dad said we're going, we're going to go camping. We going to go on a trip. His idea of trips was Civil War battlefields and I was very excited about that. I learned a lot about the Civil War because my dad liked it. My dad, liked it. He enjoyed it. He liked to study about it and guess what? Just because he liked it. I loved it. I can't explain that.

It's real. I love being with my dad. I look forward to beat with them again. when I come home from T wise,

if my kids didn't see me, I'd end up sitting in my chair and they would come running across the living room yelling.

Jump up in my lap.

Kids love to be with your dad's.

Kids love to be with their dads. And the kids love to put together the experience for the dad to enjoy. If the if the dad or the mom says, how about you set up the tent, so we can have a nice evening in their kids will jump at the chance to do this stuff. Oh and by the way, we're going to have a cookout. And you get to cook.

Cleared Siteman.

So that's the context of what's going on here. God's going to dwell with us. We're going to Camp with him. It's going to be glorious. We're going to want to run into his presence and celebrate, his presence and just have lots of fun with Dad. The end of Exodus at the end of Exodus. God had brought Israel to the mountain in order to dwell in their midst.

And after roughly nine months of construction and erection of the Tabernacle, the glory of the Lord, build the Tabernacle and no one could go in.

Imagine that was the end of the Bible.

God's dwelling in this tent and no one can go near.

That would be the saddest possible thing. God is invited us to build a tent form. We built a tent for and we've gone through all the preparation, lots of work, lots of effort, lots of beautiful stuff, and he inhabits the 10th and won't let us in. That would be terrible. But God did call he called. So at the end of Exodus, it ends this way. No one can go in.

Not a good situation.

The next word vikre, and God called. And God called.

The end terrible ending. This is not a cliffhanger. This is the end of the series as we know it, but it didn't end. The calls. And then a sex, he says, does anyone want to come near?

Kids.

You built this for me. You want to come there?

What kid wouldn't say? Yes.

If anyone wants to come near I'm paraphrasing but not by much. This is really pretty much what it says. Here's how you going to do it. Tell Israel when anyone brings an offering you shall bring it from the herd or from the flock now. This sort of kind of read this when you go. Okay. God is pre scripting. How this is going to be done. No, that's not yet. That's not yet right here. God is saying if you want to come if you want to bring an offering. Bring it from the herd of the flock. No deers. No caribou's. No Elks. No moose. No bunny. Rabbits. Heard of the flock, domesticated livestock. Things that you value that you raised. Yourselves. That's what you're going to offer. Something of importance to you. Not something that you casually obtained. God knew they would want to bring an offering. He doesn't say you have to bring an offering, he knew they wanted to bring an offering. And if you're going to bring an offering, this is what you should bring domesticated livestock. And that's the new beginning. And this is before. What did Doug covered last week. I love Doug sermon. Last week. I listen to it a couple times. There was a weak joke, did anyone pick up on it? You did. He's going over the different kinds of interpretations for this one verse and he said, very canonical. Two interpretations from one verse.

Lexi but 15 but Doug touchdown most of them but he's right. What was the big deal? The big deal was? When? When Jesus says he's going to smoke you with fire. It's the idea of complete destruction. complete sacrifice complete offering complete another way to put it would be

complete commitment. If you're salted with fire, you're destined to not be anything else. You've been set aside for this purpose in a wedding ceremony. They smashed the glass that's kind of like The Salted with fire. That's it. When you're salted with fire, the fire of the Holy Spirit. You're completely committed.

Complete commitment. Complete commitment. Complete commitment. Complete commitment.

Let's go camping. Let's have a meal together.

Parents and children.

We got a parent God, the Father. We got kids, his real parents, teach kids about right and wrong actions. If anyone, if any parents don't do this, please raise your hands and straighten me up. Parents teach kids about right and wrong actions and they eventually progressed these actions initially there. That kind of thing. My one daughter wanted to plug things into that thing on the wall. She found knives and forks, and tried plugging him into that thing on the wall. And I thought how do I tell her cuz she doesn't have language yet to not plug things into the wall. Because she was getting real close with metal objects, does doing some damage. And I thought, okay, nine volt battery. Got the 9 volt battery look theater.

She takes a 9 volt battery.

I said,

She got it.

Yeah, they didn't have covers the back then. Yeah. So that parents teach their kids about right and wrong actions and it eventually progresses to words and eventually progresses to principles of life in ancient Jewish and Christian culture, Bible memorization began as well as we can until around eight 5. And by the time kids were 10, most kids had memorized all five books of the Torah and the Psalms.

How do they do that? They sang them?

Please sign them. It's not that hard. If you're into singing and you understand Hebrew a little bit, they sang them by the time, children were 10, most kissing Moses in the Psalms. Eventually, they can even discuss and even teach applications of the words. So there's a couple of couple of things to say about that. Leviticus was the kids first memory book. Why was it the first memory book? Cuz kids get it. They want to come near. This is about how you come near to the father. They get that. What do I have to do? I'll do it. Build a Ford, dig a ditch, build a treehouse. What do I need to? Come to your dad? Tell me. I'll do it. Get to Leviticus rubber. It's a commentary on Leviticus sometime around the 5th Century, but it it it it presents ideas that were well established long before. Then it says children are pure. Therefore let them study the laws of Purity. And what's the book on the laws of Purity? Leviticus is the book on the laws of Purity kids are pure. Yeah. They might eat jelly before breakfast or whatever but They have the right idea. Life. Another reason life involves sacrifice is always, you know, if you do anything in life you're going to there's going to be a sacrifice of some kind. You get a degree? That's a sacrifice of some kind to get married. Well, that's not exactly a saxophone.

Soulja Boy.

Anyway.

Not all joy. When you say sufferings and persecutions of all kinds.

Life involves sacrifice in sacrifice teaches us something. We, we learn something from sacrifice, in a sense. We experienced death of a type. And yet we continue living, we we go through trials and difficult times and we continue living, we don't die. We think we could die but we don't die. Sometimes. We'd I put another subject altogether. The Experience enables us to live. Not only to live with an awareness of death, but it also gives us the ability to live life more fully when you when you've devoted yourself to something. When you sacrificed, when you've given of yourself and you've achieved something, you've accomplished something. You live life, more fully you celebrate, life more. It's, it's just just the way it is. So that's why they study Leviticus first. So this is pure can vote. This is one of the earliest written. They, they wrote down the sayings of the fathers. Before they wrote down anything else. At least that's my best understanding of it. And and these old things which I Think Jesus knew all of them were written down and are called p. R k of vote the chapters or the brakes or the sayings or the verses of the fathers. And so this one of Rabbi says that when kids are five, it's they're ready for scripture, the ready to memorize scripture. My kids went to Awana. Anyone else kids go to Awana. How many verses did they learn?

Started with one.

Yep. I lost count of how many versus my kids learned. They, memorize the phenomenal number of verses.

They didn't get that far.

But Angie won awards at a not state-level, but just just one step down from the state level up for a number of verses memorized. She was phenomenal. And they're still in there.

And their birthday will bear fruit, whatever. I think of that exercise. They will bear fruit at 5. They memorize scripture at 10. They begin to save these things like this one by 13. They're responsible for Being a son of The Commandments of bar. Mitzvah Bat, Mitzvah daughter, the Commandments their /. They're responsible to do these Good Deeds to do to follow Commandments. Call by 15 is supposed to be studying talmud more deeply than sings. The talmud is more like a commentary principles of Life, teaching that kind of thing by 18. After they've done that for a while. They're expected to get married. I'm glad I wasn't expecting to get married at 18. So would have been a total disaster.

By 29 is supposed to learn to trade. Kind of interesting because they have to take a year off when they get married. They don't learn the trade, they learn about marriage and then they learn a trade and then by 30, they move into their season of Might. You're away from your mic, but you're getting close. By 44, supposed to have some understanding at 50, you're finally able to give counsel to other people. Some people say is that because of the wisdom that you have when you're 50 years old. No, just sheer age. Just miles. 60 old age. I disagree with that.

It's not really old. It's just older, 70 white hair by 80. I'm supposed to choose some kind of Valor. I'm looking forward to that. I don't have a bent back yet. But I imagine it could,. And by the time you're a hundred, they say different things, but I like to view it like the world is no longer that important. To you, because you see, there's more to the, to the world to come and you're looking forward to that. And that's what I think that actually means. They're so by 5 memorize scripture. What did they memorize Leviticus? Questions. No, that's my introduction to Leviticus. That concludes my sermon for the day now.

Unintentional sin, where in Chapter 4. First of all, I need to point out something that people are probably scratching your head on. I did not write down a satyr number. We decided it's too unproductive to try to establish sator numbers last time. It was 53 in this time. It's 57 next year might be 59. If it doesn't work, satyr numbers don't work. So we decided we do something as simple as we can make. It. It's a satyr and it's somewhere in Leviticus 4.

What is easier than satyr 80, or whatever? What's in or was it today? Yep, 77, if I wrote stator 77 Yugo.

Satyr on Leviticus for little easier to understand. Those are the verses I'm going to cover. And I'm not guaranteeing will all follow this method. But this is the one that that I'm following in the schedule that I'm the final editor on. K words, hot Austin or missing the mark. Survivor. So far, so we, we, we remember sometimes. We sing a song. It's a tonight. Save our oath to vote. I don't know why the Lord Savannah out of the commanded ones. Survival, command order Meats. It's a command or deed, your commandant or Good Deed. Some people will say, it's a Mitzvah to do this. Yeah, do you mean it's a commandment or a good deed? Yeah. Okay, Miss pop. It's comes from Shabbat, Shabbat Shabbat. It's a judge or to rule is a judgment or rule, nefesh Soul or a living being and East Royal people of Israel. These words come all the way through the seder this week. I'm not going to dwell on them real hard, but send commands. Orders commanded one's rules of the living, soul and Israel. So here we are, at Leviticus ignorance is no excuse. I didn't know that.

Unintentional sins. So we're studying unintentional, sins in Leviticus 4 and I found a site that lists several things that they consider unintentional sins in today's world. Cuz when we look at unintentional, since we think we don't understand you either intend to do it or you don't, if you don't intend to do it, then why did you do it? Why would you commit an unintentional sin? Doesn't make any sense yet, kind of does holding a grudge anyone ever held a grudge. No good. Put in your personal desires before God, anyone ever done that no-good justifying or remaining in a bad attitude.

Not celebrating another person's success. Reacting in anger or an hurt, taking advantage of others, discouraging others, using words or other methods, not working as if unto the Lord. I wasn't expecting that one. That one. Hit me. Upside the head. Everything you should do. You should do as if unto the Lord. Focusing on worldly passions. Sometimes I get excited about doing that. Nevermind. Criticizing others, not supposed to criticize others, unless it's constructive criticism. Then it's okay. You can be a fruit inspector. Now, you can't. You get it having unkind words about others, exaggerating or telling White Lies? Occasionally have been prone to exaggerate. You might find that hard to believe but

Please accept my apologies for all of these sins, which I have committed. And your presents in one way or another? They're unintentional sins. The real. They're important to recognize as Christians. We don't think we need to think about these things because they're in the Old Testament. They're in Leviticus. They're not chapter about Blood and Guts and everything else know these are real. Since the we commit today.

That's what the Bible teaches this. That's why we read it. Would begin to get an insight into into reality that we don't. Otherwise have unintentional sin, Leviticus for. It's all about unintentional sin. If anyone and intentionally sins about things not to be done and does any of them then he shall offer for the sins that he is committed and there different levels of responsibility. So the priest has the highest level of responsibility. He has to sacrifice a bull, the priests s to sprinkle the blood on the veil and put it on the horns of the altar. He has to burn the blood in the fat and all the remains have to be burned outside the camp. Community is very similar. It's slightly different in the language. I'm not going to argue about the semantics. It seems about as important as the priest. The leader. Sacrifices, a male goat. Doesn't have to sprinkle Blood on the veil or the horns. Doesn't have to burn it outside the camp. Burns it on the on the fire and individuals, the female goat or sheep blood fat, same thing, but not outside the camp, different levels of responsibility. So this whole idea of you pay for your own sin. Is is is woven into this. You don't have to pay for someone else's send, you don't have to pay for your father's signore. It's serious in that you have to deal with and that's what is Ezekiel talks about o. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. I didn't know that either.

You don't get it.

Vagrants is no excuse.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Then he would be applauding on this one.

Ezekiel. So, I'm collapsing, Ezekiel. I'm just focusing on the mizpah team. The rules of statutes, the instruction. The fear of the Lord is clean. And the reason I'm doing this is the same word, means different things to us. And we focus on the English words, and we're missing the connection between the words that the word actually carries in the Hebrew. So I kind of spelled it out a little bit. The fear of the Lord is clean and during forever. The rules misbah team of the Lord are true and righteous altogether, a man. And that's from the song, A man is righteous. If he does, what is just miss pot and write the executes True, Justice, Miss protein, also called rules between, man, and man. Oh, he walks in my instruction and obeys my rules misbah team. He shall surely live declares the Lord God, He Shall Not Die for his father's iniquity. He shall surely live. What is Ezekiel is instructing in this? The issue that's going on is there and babbling and they're kind of frustrated with the situation and they're kind of feeling like this, isn't my fault. I didn't cause this. Why am I here?

Exiled. Why couldn't I just stay in Israel with the good people? Let all the bad people get exiled over here. Well, some of the things they did were communal.

And in and God is kind of instructing that that you got to be clear on what you think is your fault. And what's going on here is partly your fault. I'll make good on it. God says, but you're involved in why you're here in this Exile, but then he makes a big deal out of The father does not pay for the sins of the son of the sun. Does not pay for the sins of the father etcetera. Etcetera makes a big deal on this end in Ezekiel. This is the one place where this is made a big deal of the one who sins is the one who will die. If you haven't send, you won't be the one who has to pay the price.

Ezekiel. Relates to the Toro for the day.

Different levels. Different levels of responsibility.

The one with the highest responsibility has the highest to pay.

And so on. Some New Testament verses. So now we're moving on to the New Testament, also tied in, by the words that we've been sharing all morning. Obey God, rather than men were witnesses to Jesus, resurrection and glory and to the Holy Spirit whom God gives to those who obey him. If we're following God's instruction. He's going to give us his holy spirit. If we're following the inclination that the holy spirit is leading Us in and our thoughts are prayers are study. Then he's going to give us more of him more of the Holy Spirit when someone wanders from your community James right to bring him back. Helped to save his soul from Death. The person who wanders is in danger. Bring him back, encouraged him back. Don't let him be wandering. The word for unintentional. Some places interpreted staggers, when someone staggers, when someone trips when someone loses their step, when someone misses the mark,

it's okay.

Come on back. And then this is 1st John Mary Sylvia Reddit. I've been given a clarification on this verse. This is a verse that's often misinterpreted.

No, one born of God. Continues to practice sinning. God seed which abides in him, can't send Whoever doesn't practice righteousness or who doesn't love his brother isn't of God, of some people. Actually teach have taught I've heard sermons on this. That if you're born of God, you cannot send any longer. It's impossible for a Christian to send. I can prove that's wrong.

But this verse is there. In English it off and reads that way in your Bible. A person who is born of God can no longer sin. Yes, they can. What can't they do?

You got to go to the Greek when you go to the Greek god, C. Divides in him. We haven't been carbon copy, stamped with DNA, but that DNA is in US. Relating to us dancing with hours teaching us not to send. But it's not a complete change. It's, it's a gradual learning. So I I think this is helpful. No one born of God continues to practice sending God seed which is a bides in him.

The DNA of Jesus that's in, you can't send. You can. But he can't.

The more you become like him, the less, you'll be able to send, whoever doesn't practice righteousness. It doesn't say Get it, perfect. I'm an engineer there, three careers who are given a license. Doctors lawyers and Engineers. Do you know where license to do? Practice.

When I go to see a lawyer, I'm not going to a lawyer who does law. Absolutely correctly all the time. I'm going to a man who practices law. When I go to a doctor, I expect the doctor knows what he's doing is going to give me the best care possible because he knows medicine and he's going to get it right. No, he's license to practice. He tries something if it works. Good couple weeks ago. Does it does it hurt when you do this? Don't do that Sage Michael Sullivan back there. Davis, that one.

I'm licensed to practice engineering. I don't I don't get it. I mean, I know I know some things but I'm I'm not letting you know, it's not a trade school. Madison law and Engineering aren't trades. They are kind of like trades, but you can't get it right all the time. It's not like screwing in a screw to exactly 55 foot pounds. No, it's it's you try it. If it works. It's great. So those are the New Testament verses and they wrap all the way back through everything. We've been saying all morning.

And that kind of is the sermon except the whole point of the sermon. We should want to run to the father. We should want to come into His presence with joy. We should be wanting to jump up on his lap and say, daddy, daddy daddy.

Let's go camping.

That's it.
