The Keys to Self Examination

Unlocking the Door to a Victorious Future

Salvation

VSalvation is an Event occurring in a moment when we pray and become a Christian.

VBut as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: (John 1:12)

Sanctification

VSanctification is a Process, also sometimes referred to as recovery that begins with salvation and continues when we are glorified with Christ

VBeloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (1 John 3:2)

Self Examination

VStop judging others

VExamine Ourselves Instead

VLet God Set the Standard

VFace Our Shortcomings Honestly

Stop judging others

V1 Corinthians 4:1-5

So look at Apollos and me as mere servants of Christ who have been put in charge of explaining God's secrets. Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. What about me? Have I been faithful? Well, it matters very little what you or anyone else thinks. I don't even trust my own judgment on this point.

My conscience is clear, but that isn't what matters. It is the Lord himself who will examine me and decide. So be careful not to jump to conclusions before the Lord returns as to whether or not someone is faithful. When the Lord comes, he will bring our deepest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. And then God will give to everyone whatever praise is due.

    Examine Yourself instead

V2 Corinthians 13:5,6

Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [ not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you--unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected? But I hope you will recognize and know that we are not disapproved on trial and rejected. (Amplified Bible)

      Let God set the standard

V2 Timothy 3:16,17                                         All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (NASB)

   Face Your Shortcomings Honestly

VPsalm 51:3-6                                                                   For I recognize my shameful deeds – they haunt me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner – yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the heart, so you can teach me to be wise in my inmost being. (NLT)

Mercy for the Remnant

VWho is a God like You, who pardons iniquity And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea.                                        (Micah 7:18,19 - NASB)
