*1.  **God’s Action & Intention*

We were created to have *dominion* over the earth in *union *with God (Genesis 1:26-28)
b.   God used three methods of *communication* with man
1.   *Conversational* (Genesis 1:28, 29; 2:15-17) God gave man freedom and responsibility which in turn incur consequences and result in character formation.

Although some have chosen to interact with God, *sin* has caused others to turn away (Genesis 3:8-13; Romans 1:21)
b.   Human *self  will* causes massive *insensitivity* and *resistance *to God’s intention of fellowship and finally causes to fall headlong into evil.

*3.  **Our Personal Response matters*

Our lives find their *direction *when God is present with us, and we are *directionless* without Him.
Intimate individual communication with God is something that cannot be done away with in spiritual formation.
We must constantly seek out this individual communion.

When God is not with us as we saw in Romans our lives *loose* *focus *and are hearts are *darkened*.

Our heart can be *hardened by self will* and incapable of recognizing Gods attempts to correct us.

We can even *grieve* and *resist* the Spirit of God.

We were created by God to live in a *relationship *with Him and He does not give up or accept defeat (Romans 8:2-6)
b.   God uses *earthly institutions* to mediate His presence because of our fallen nature to give us a point of reference.

We need to *progress* in our *relationship* with God as we grow up in the likeness of Jesus Christ.
