WE ARE MADE FOR RELATIONSHIP.
WE ARE MADE FOR RELATIONSHIP.
TO BE IMAGERS - TO BE MADE IN THE IMAGO DEI IS TO BE IN RELATIONSHIP.
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
MALE AND FEMALE ARE MADE IN THE IMAGE. BOTH ARE IMAGERS. BUT IT'S MORE.
GOD IS RELATIONAL AND IN ORDER TO IMAGE HIM WE MUST BE RELATIONAL.
GOD MAKES THE MAN. IT'S NOT GOOD TO BE ALONE.
GOD MAKES THE WOMAN.
GEN 2:24: Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
BUT IT'S MORE THAN JUST HUMAN RELATIONSHIP.
GOD INTENDED TO DWELL WITH HIS IMAGERS. THAT'S WHAT EDEN WAS.
8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
EDEN DOES NOT EQUAL THE GARDEN. THE GARDEN WAS IN EDEN.
EDEN IS GOD'S DWELLING PLACE. IT'S A TEMPLE AND THE GARDEN IS A PART OF THE TEMPLE COMPLEX.
GOD PROVIDES ALL THAT HIS IMAGERS WILL NEED - INCLUDING HIMSELF. THINK OF GEN 3:8: GOD WALKING IN THE GARDEN IN THE COOL OF THE DAY....
THIS DOESN'T MEAN GOD NEEDED A PLACE. THIS DOESN'T MEAN GOD WAS LONELY OR NEEDY. AS AN OUTFLOW OF HIS NATURE GOD CREATED US TO BE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
WE ARE MOST TRULY AND FULLY HUMAN WHEN "WE" ARE WITH GOD!
YOU CANT BE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE YOU DON’T KNOW.
YOU CANT BE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE YOU DON’T KNOW.
AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SERPENT ATTACKS...
4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
SIN ALWAYS BEGINS WITH CHARACTER ASSASSINATION OF GOD IN YOUR HEART.
SIN ALWAYS BEGINS WITH CHARACTER ASSASSINATION OF GOD IN YOUR HEART.

SIN IS COSMIC REBELLION AGAINST THE CREATOR.
SIN BROKE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
21 And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”
23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.
MANKIND LOSES PLACE WITH GOD. OUT OF EDEN. IN THE WILD.
GOD KEEPS REACHING OUT AND MAN KEEPS REJECTING.
CAIN AND ABEL.
LAMECH.
FLOOD AND NOAH.
BABEL.
4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”
THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO GET TO "HEAVEN" GEOGRAPHICALLY THEY ARE TRYING TO FORCE GOD TO GOME TO THEM.
THEY ARE TRYING TO CREATE SACRED SPACE.
IT DOESN'T WORK OUT.
8 So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.
9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.
THEY WERE TRYING NOT TO BE DISPERSED - GOD DISPERSED THEM.
GOD DISINHERITED THE NATIONS. HE GAVE THEM WHAT THEY WANTED. BUT HE DIDN'T GIVE UP.
7 Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.
8 When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.
9 But the Lord’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.
10 “He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of the wilderness; he encircled him, he cared for him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
GOD DOESN'T GIVE UP. HE CREATES FOR HIMSELF A NEW PEOPLE THROUGH ABRAM.
GOD ENTERS INTO RELATIONSHIP WITH ABRAM AND HIS DESCENDANTS.
GOD MET WITH THEM. GOD CREATED SACRED SPACE WITH THEM. GOD SET THEM APART TO BE HIS INSTRUMENT.
WHAT MADE THEM THE PEOPLE OF GOD WAS THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
DAVID WRITES HERE LIKE AN ADDICT.
HE WANTS GOD MORE THAN ANYTHING. HE WANTS HIM IN EVERYTHING, ALWAYS.
DO YOU CRAVE FOR GOD LIKE AN ADDICT?
DO YOU CRAVE FOR GOD LIKE AN ADDICT?
ARE WE LOVERS OF JESUS?
IS THE CHURCH PRODUCING LOVERS OF JESUS?
THINK ABOUT THIS STATEMENT: "I DIDN'T REALLY LIKE THE WORSHIP TODAY..." IMAGINE THE ANGELS IN ISA. 6 SAYING THAT!
GOD IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!
28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”
29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
IF THIS IS THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT WHAT IS THE GREATEST SIN?
LOVING CHRIST - NOT GOING TO CHURCH, NOT RELIGIOUS ACTIVITY, LOVING AND KNOWING CHRIST IS MOST IMPORTANT THING IN CREATION.
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
I ASK AGAIN DO YOU LOVE GOD? DO YOU KNOW JESUS - NOT ABOUT HIM BUT HIM.
1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
