Sermon Notes
Galatians 3:10–14 (NKJV)
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”
Deut 27:26
11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Salvation
Law and Grace
The Law brings a curse (destruction) The law must be best kept in its entirety otherwise you are cursed.
How are you trying to get to God?
Some will try to do as much good as possible then they do bad, then God will get closer to them.
You cannot be justified before God by doing good.
We are justied by faith.
(Romans 4:5)
The Law to do and live
Grace to believe and live.
If you have to live right you have to live perfectly.
Jesus died for us!
Sermon Outline
The Rich Young Ruler (Mark10:17-27)
Failing to meet expectations
Read Passage!
I hear often how some can feel like they are falling short all the time from being something God can be proud of because they keep making mistakes.
What are the mistakes?
That they arent doing what they need to be doing.
And because they dont do the things they want to do, they retreat and isolate themselves from what God has in store for them.
Why do you want to be something you cant be?
I want to suggest to you that you need to change the way you think.
There is a lie that we can fall into that captivates God’s people from experiencing all that God has in store for us.
The lie is this, “You are not doing enough good in your life to be used by God.”
You need to stop trying to do!
You need to start being who Jesus made you to be.
In this passage Paul is going to teach us that If your expectations in life is to be better doers then you are only going to destroy your faith.
The Just shall live by faith not by doing.
