God’s moral law was given to God’s people at Sinai.

Those who violated the law of Moses died without mercy.
Previous sermon: Jesus is our Great High Priest who intercedes for us, and gives his people privileges by his grace.

Jesus gave up everything, so that we can become a part of the household of God by his grace.

It is important to then live a life in appropriate appreciation of his grace:

Draw near to God
Being baptized (committing)
Spur one another on in good deeds

If any Christian sins willfully (with full intention), they turn their back on God, and no sacrifice under the law of Moses will be able to save them.

The punishment that they will receive after rejecting the full grace of God in Christ would be more severe than those who never knew it.

It’s as if we have slammed the door shut to Jesus’ new and living way.

The way might not look like the way we expected.

We might not see every twist and turn in the road.
The way might be longer than we expected, which might require us to long endure.
The way might come with all sorts of obstacles, which might require us to learn how to surpass them.
Sometimes, we will even need to learn from others successes and failures.

In fact, the way might be deadly for us.

At least for our mortal bodies.

We soon come to realize that great perseverance is needed to make it to the end.

GITT: Jesus came near to cleanse us from sin and a guilty conscience (the conviction of the Holy Spirit).

The Living Way is the Way of Faith in Jesus Christ

Jesus is “the veil”

The way through which we are enabled to come into the presence of God.

By Christ’s wounded human body, heaven was opened to the faithful.

We are encouraged to draw near to God with pure heart (clear conscience) given to us through confession and forgiveness because of our having faith in God.

Our conscience is made clear, and our bodies washed through our baptism.

This is our hope, living with a clear conscience from now through eternity.

We come together to encourage each other to faith, love, and good works, continually building more and more.

This is how the brothers and sisters in Christ could accept their suffering joyfully, knowing that the other would be saved with help.

The disciples persevered with confidence in their faith in God.

Let us have that same confidence

That we are saved because of our faith in God, and others will be saved in the same way.

The full assurance of faith we are given is a complete trust in God and the way he provided for us in Jesus Christ.

No other sacrifice will do. No other way can bring us to him.
Instead of fear, there is an expectant resignation.

This powerful knowledge of the way of Jesus Christ compels us to persevere and to share that knowledge with others

Challenging others and encouraging others.

To live the way is to follow the Sure Way of God from now into eternity with God.
