Well, it's great to have everybody here today as we continue, our series walking through the eight Beatitudes of Jesus and channel rethink happiness.
I see many of you have your study guides in front of you.

I know we are getting pretty, pretty low.
But we're having a great time during the 60 days of spiritual growth asking the question.
What does it mean to truly be happy?
And more importantly, even then, that is, what does it look like to live?
Like, Jesus.
Love, Like Jesus and Lead, like Jesus.
So we're going to continue that with the attitude number 3 here today.
Let's start by asking a question.
If you were to fill in this sentence happiness is.... How would you respond?
Happiness is... I'll tell you how I respond happiness.
Is a couch too.

Take a look at this picture.
We got a couch in her house.
That's very very full.
We have extra family at our house.
These days as you've heard me say and we're just loving it.
It's great.
So here you have Prince Roland of my two-and-a-half grandson surrounded by Papa Grandma sisa.
We've got the Rex the Wonder Dog.
We got little Remy, the puppy their Uncle Britt and then the manga right around the corner, but all we're having fun snuggling up there altogether, and having a ball happiness, is... Introducing you to my brand new granddaughter.

I'm a grandpa.
Have I mentioned that before?
Is she not the most beautiful girl in the history of all creation.

And how good to know that Mommy's doing great baby.
Liliana is doing great and Daddy was able to make it home for the birth.
That's a big, big deal.
So we're very, very excited about that and a mini, you know, that Reggie was deployed.
So we weren't sure that was going to happen.
And one more happiness is the first annual Big Brother hike through the deep dark Forest.
That's right.
Role in my 2 and 1/2 year, old grandson, and Papa and Rex our Scout dog, went into the back Deep Dark Forest, looking for Brad.
We've been talking about Bradford weeks and weeks and weeks and we went deep into the dark forest and the two words that Rowan said to pop over and over again, was Hold Me, Hold Me.
Because when you're really short and the Fallen trees are really kind of big and the overgrowth and and everything is a little bit tough.
You need some of little bit bigger to carry us.
So we made it into the Northwest Territory.
It was very treacherous.
We were trailblazing pioneering brand new country and Rich was out front showing us the way and we made it to a trail and the trail took is to a clearing and the clearing turned out to be a park but we never found Brad who is Brad you say, Brad is our friend, the owl that we here every night and we talked about Brad and we tell stories about Brad.
And that's the story about Brad via.
When you think of Happiness, isn't it?
True?
Most of it revolves around people?
I mean, I just told you three of those stories and it's all about people's all about family.
I mean, there's really nothing more important in all the world to us than the people in our lives are family or close friends extended family, people.
We work with things of that nature.
And today we're going to talk about respecting other people.
The first two Beatitudes, in a blessed are the poor in spirit and blessed.
Are those who mourn all about our relationship with God?
The Third beatitude.
Blessed are the meek is all about our relationship with other people.
If we don't have the first to write, it's going to impact the third one.
We're going to do well, we're going to do better and better and better in respecting other people if we first have a relationship with God dialed in.
So I wanted to talk about that here today, you know, statistics say in many people report this that less and less people are happy today and article by the Smithsonian and study and research by the University of Chicago reported by.
The AP says, there's less people happy today.
In fact, only 14% of people say they're happy.
That seems so low to me.
And whether it's true or not, we know there is an awful lot of it, happiness in the world today.
I read a book here recently, entitled did the, The Happiness Advantage, seven principles of positive psychology.
That feels excessive performance at work by Shawn achor, as taught in the Harvard stained, happiness course, the long title, but there it is, and it's a fascinating read Because I tend to have this persuasion myself.
It's better to live life with a positive mindset, then a negative mindset and we need to bring kind of a positive approach to life of persevering.
We can do overcoming kind of a an approach to life and anchor kind of watch through this whole idea.
Here is what he says.
He says are most commonly held formula for success is broke and he writes conventional wisdom holds that if we work hard, we'll be more successful.
And for more successful, then we're going to be more happy if we can just find a great job.
The next promotion, lose those 5 lb happiness will follow.
He says, it's not the case at all, rather.
We need to bring happiness to everything in life.
It's happiness that fuel success.
Not the other way around.
When we are positive.
Our brains are more engaged, creative motivated, and energetic, resilience and productive at work.
This isn't just an empty Mantra.
We have proven this out over and over again.
They go through all the data, he concludes by saying, this is Success causes happiness than every employee who gets a promotion, every student receives an acceptance letter and everyone who's ever accomplish the goal of any kind should be happy, but we know that's not true.
With each Victory.
He says what happens in reality is the goal post moves, the goalposts of success keeps getting pushed out further and further and further and happiness gets pushed out over the horizon.
You see friend's happiness is internal that.
External the whole message of the Beatitudes.
Makarios blessed.
Happy.
Jesus says, happy are you if you do these eight things basically saying?
Joy is internal its internal joy.
That is anchored in an eternal God.
You don't get married to get happy.
You.
Don't you wait for a promotion to get happy.
You don't hope for this that or the other thing to get, happy know, you find.
Happiness is God, and you bring that to your marriage and you bring that to your workplace.
Can you bring that to your educational process?
That's what Jesus says.
It's an internal Joy.
Start with your relationship with God.
