Introduction

Scripture Reading

Philippians 4:9 NKJV
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
You cannot separate thinking from doing
Paul understands if he can get the Church to think right he can get them to do right.
Paul not only wants them to hearers of the Word but doers of the Word.
Proverbs 23:7 NKJV
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
James 1:22–25 NKJV
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
Paul wants the Church at Philippi to put into practice the example that he has been for them.
The verb do in this sentience is not the Greek word poieo which means to do but to prasso is to practice
To do can just be repetitious which can be religious
Prasso means a constant way of of life.
Not to practice like we practice for a sport like a football but put into practice like a lawyer.
Sports players practice repetiously while doctors or lawyers practice law and medicince through different experiences refining learning better and doing better.
They live their practice for years rather than do what they do for a little while.

Philippians 3:7–11 NKJV
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
