Creating a Culture of Blessing 1
Here at Mokuaikaua we are about Creating a Culture of Blessing.
We believe this is God’s mission for our church.
201 years ago a group of missionaries arrived here in Kailua Kona in response to the invitation and prayers of two young men from Hawaii, Henry Opukahai’a and Thomas Hopu.
On April 4 1820 our beloved church Mokuaikaua was founded, Rev Asa Thurston after meeting with the King Kamehameha, and the Queen Regent Kaahumanu, they gave them permission to start churches and schools, King Kamehameha the second Liho-Liho gave his house and canoe house to be the first church and school.
The missionaries came to Hawaii to fulfill the great commission to preach the gospel, baptize them, and disciple them to obey everything Jesus thought us.
Mokuaikaua is committed to carry out this inheritance, April 1820 also marked the beginning of one of the greatest revivals in history, 97% of the population of Hawaii came to Christ, by 1840 Hawaii had the largest church in the world, Haili church in Hilo, a church with 11thousand members.
The aim of a culture of blessing, is to reach out others is to be a blessing.
To do that, We need a fresh revelation about the
word of God. God’s creative power.
The wrong understanding of God’s word will limit us in everything we do especially our prayers.
3 important truths about God’s word
Let’s pray

1 The word of God, Is powerful

Creation happened by the power of the word of God,
Psa 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, And all their host by the breath of His mouth.
Psa 33:7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as in a wineskin; He puts the deeps in storehouses.
Psa 33:8 Let all the earth fear and worship the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
Psa 33:9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
If we are open to understand this kind of power, we can agree that God doesn’t need anything to create something, he can speak into existence whatever He wants. The universe came together by the word of the Lord.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Sometimes we are praying for something, and we need to see this part coming together or this other thing needs to make sense, if you are praying the word of God, doesn’t need to make sense to you, your Heavenly Father will bring together whatever is needed, leave the details to Him. Just agree with Jesus.
Jesus is the incarnated word of God
Joh 1:1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Gen_1:1; Isa_9:6]
Joh 1:2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being.
Jesus came into the world and now if you have a relationship with Him, Our Heavenly Father, Jesus His son and the Holy Spirit dwells in you, in all power and authority.
There is nothing impossible for God, Jesus taught us that, nothing even death, can hold us down.
Jesus came to see Lazarus His friend 4 days after he was dead, he planed that way, he knew when Lazarus died.
But when he shows up and see’s Martha
Joh 11:21 Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
Joh 11:22 Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give to You."
Joh 11:23 Jesus told her, "Your brother will rise[from the dead]."
Joh 11:24 Martha replied, "I know that he will rise [from the dead] in the resurrection on the last day."
Joh 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, relies on) Me [as Savior] will live even if he dies;
Joh 11:26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me [as Savior] will never die. Do you believe this?"
Joh 11:27 She said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed andcontinue to believe that You are the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the Son of God, He who was [destined and promised] to come into the world [and it is for You that the world has waited]."
There is nothing impossible for our God, even death, but we need to trust that He knows what is best for all of us and He loves us, not every person we will pray for will be healed or recover unless He says so.
A few weeks ago I was in the ICU, because of Covid 19, and the only reason I’m here, is because you prayed, people from around the world prayed and agree with God, that was not my time yet, believe me it was an intense battle with hell, but if my time was up, we need to trust God that He knows what is best. During this pandemic many good people, friends, some of them pastors and missionaries didn’t make it, they will be greatly missed but we need to trust God and release them into His hands.

2 The Word of God is perfect,

We can trust our Heavenly Father, His way is the best way, His word is true , it brings discernment and conviction it clears intentions and breaks through deception.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.
When we hear from God our minds and hearts are changed, we can see what is from our soul and spirit, what is emotions or from our stubborn minds.
Psa 18:30 As for God, His way is blameless. The word of the LORD is tested [it is perfect, it is faultless]; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
There are times that we don’t know what to do, our battle against the enemy, seems overwhelming, we begin to believe that the enemy has all the power and authority, the circumstances around us are very intimidating, King Jehoshaphat went through a very overwhelming situation.
King Jehoshaphat did what was good in the sight of the Lord just as his father King Asa.
He had just appointed new godly leaders and judges over his kingdom
2Ch 20:1 It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and otherswith them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat.
2Ch 20:2 Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, "A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar" (which is En Gedi).
2Ch 20:3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
2Ch 20:4 So Judah gathered together to ask helpfrom the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
There is no better thing to do when we are afraid and don’t know what to do, humble yourself before the Lord, call upon His name and pray, He will speak to you.
After the people came together and pray God spoke to them.
2Ch 20:14 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly.
2Ch 20:15 And he said, "Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.
2Ch 20:17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!' Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you."
The enemy may come against you with an overwhelming force, but God always has the final answer.
They all came together to worship the Lord and they went to battle led by the worshipers
2Ch 20:22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
2Ch 20:23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
2Ch 20:24 So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.
2Ch 20:25 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.
The word of the Lord is perfect, we can always trust Him, it will give us the understanding, the discernment we need, He will fight for us.

3 The Word of God is a light for our path,

Psa 119:105 Nun. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Life is a walk of faith, we have good days and bad days, but
Even when all seems to go dark around us, we can be sure that our Heavenly Father will guide us through it.
A few years ago our dear friend
Mike Gardner heard from His Heavenly Father, that his health would be restored right here on earth, Mike embraced the word of the Lord and hang in there, it was not an easy journey, it took 6years, most of the time it was all he had to hold on the word of God, some Drs. would discourage him, his insurance would reject him, his body was failing him, but he did not gave up and continue believing for a break through. When I was still in the hospital, God spoke to me about his healing, soon after Barbara wrote they were called in for the double transplant.
Mike is a walking miracle!
Psa 12:6 The words and promises of the LORD are pure words, Like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.
When you sit down to read God’s word, ask Him for Revelation
As we continue to build a culture of blessing, we need a deeper understanding about the word of the Lord, is Powerful, Perfect and a light.
begins when we make Jesus the Lord of our lives.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Joh 3:16
