Watch out! If someone is flattering you, then you know that they are trying to get something from you.

18 He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool.
slander=evil report/rumor
Hatred together with slander. This is a dangerous combination. It is a tell tale sign of a person who does not fear God.
12 He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, But a man of understanding keeps silent.
13 He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter.
Talebearer=informer, one who attempts to destroy someones character by slander
28 A perverse man spreads strife, And a slanderer separates intimate friends.
This is product of slander. It destroys friendships. If you value your friends, don’t talk about them behind their backs.
9 He who conceals a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends.
repeat a matter=gossips or tells everyone the story of his friends failure.
8 The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.
same as Prov. 26:22
morsels=things greedily devoured.
Gossip is greedily devoured and remembered for a long time. Some people have lies told about them and never outlive their false reputation
19 He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, Therefore do not associate with a gossip.
This is how deal with a gossip. Stay away from them!
20 For lack of wood the fire goes out, And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down.

The truth usually comes out. When it does the benefits of lying (if there are any) evaporate.

Those who love it=those who love to talk in the wrong way.
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
