Amalek first came against Israel by stealth attacking the weakest among them.
17 “Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you came out of Egypt, 18 how he attacked you on the way when you were faint and weary, and cut off your tail, those who were lagging behind you, and he did not fear God.
Then Amalek came for a fight when whole nation was discouraged and in despair. Satan will attack when and where you are weakest!
Prepare for the fight - “chose men to go fight tomorrow.” These were men who had been slaves, not warriors. Their task was not in line with their “training”.

Gain Strength Through Prayer (10-13)
Moses went up on the hill to raise the Lord’s Standard!
When he grew weary others came alongside to support. It is a picture of lifting the battle to the Lord in prayer. Joshua was in the thick of the fight, but Moses, Aaron, and Hur were interceding from the hilltop.
There is a role for every Christian! Some are called into the battle physically. Some are called into the battle spiritually. But all are called!
The Christian life is not that of an automaton. It is both petition and performance. It took both Joshua and Moses fulfilling their roles to gain victory.
One may say that the outcome was certain anyway, but what we see in the O.T. is that God invites us into His work, and even operates through human agency.
“God desires to meet our needs in a dynamic partnership with us. We are neither the effective agents, nor are we spectators; we are called into the fellowship of partnership.” - Cornerstone Bible Commentary
We cannot shrug our shoulders and say, “oh, well, some were just destined to be left behind.” We must engage in the fight, prayerfully!
Where has God called you to engage? Approach it with prayer, gather a prayer team, and get to work!

Memorialize the victories that God has granted. Write them down. You will gain strength from them when facing future battles and future valleys.
“The Lord is my Banner”. God is the source of our strength and our signal upon the hill!
22 This is what the Lord God says: Look, I will lift up My hand to the nations, and raise My banner to the peoples. They will bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders. 23 Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the ground, and lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am Yahweh; those who put their hope in Me will not be put to shame.
Know your enemy, pray for victory, and engage in the battle!
