God created the most basic, intimate and far-reaching human relationship of all when He took Adam's rib, formed Eve from it, and made them one. Regarding divorce, Jesus used Genesis 1-2 to affirm that very definition of marriage: one man and one woman, in a sacred covenant intended to last a lifetime.
