3)Somepracticalitiesofhowdoit: Addressingdrawbacks,caveatsandobjections.
● Somepeoplefeelprayersalwayshavetobespontaneousandoriginal,justfromthe
heartunprompted.Butprayingjustfromyourheartandimaginationisalimitingdelusion.
God’speoplehaveoftenprayedpromptedbyscriopture.Examples:Acts4:24-26,and
Jesus’sowndyingprayerquotingPsalm22.
● Pickappropriatepassages;prayerslikeDavid’sin1Chron17:16-27,ormanyofthe
Psalmswhichareprayerssettomusic(Psalm100isagreatstartingplace.)
● Readthesurroundingpassagesandthinkofthecontext,soyoudon’tmisinterpretand
praybasedonerroneousassumptions.
● Personalizethepassage-findifyourpointofviewfitsoneoftheperspectives(for
exampleintheProdigalSon-whichofthecharactersfitsyourpresentlifeexperience)
● Recognizethatyourperspectivediffersfromtheoriginalspeaker.Don’ttwistthe
meaning.
