Scripture: Col. 3:15

Title: Let Peace Rule

Theme: Peace

Introduction:

    1. Ps 133:1  <<A Song of degrees of David.>> Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Thesis: The Church is to be a harbor, haven, rest for soul

Transition:

I. That is what the soul needs

    A. Peace is a major part of the believers life

Isa 26:3  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Ps 119:165  Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

        1. It was purchased at a great price

            a. It is was a very great accomplishment

                1. How unpeaceful we are, and tend to become

                2. The change is enormous:

Mt. 20:25  But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26  But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27  And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28  Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

X changes heart

Lk 14:8 “Don’t sit at the head”

    B. Peace is a priceless possession

Is 57:10 “There is no peace…”

        1. The terrorist can’t have peace w/out sword

        2. The miser “ w/out possessions

        3. The angry man w/out revenge

        4. But X died that we might have it now cuz

II. Making the church a harbor requires effort – “Let peace rule”

     A. It’s to rule when

        1. Decisions

Php 4:2  I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

1Co 14:40  Let all things be done decently and in order.

        2. Differences

Mt 5:24  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift

        3. Disasters – when things go sour

Mt 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

    B. It’s the peace of X that is rule

III. It is very important to make peace

                A. Work’s sake

                B. Salvation, sanctification

                C. When the church falters…      

                D. The good of the church was worth Paul’s life. Pete’s life. The lives of countless men an women who have labored in the work of building churches.

Conclusion:

Let the peace of Christ rule here at FFBC. It does! Isn’t it great. Keep up the good work, and enjoy the peace of X.
