4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart, The lamp of the wicked, is sin.
Haughty: to be high above.
always looking down.
Proud: broad or far reaching.
Someone’s lamp was their life [their lamp will be snuffed out]. The existence of the wicked is sin.
“Proud,” “Haughty,” “Scoffer,” are his names,
Who acts with insolent pride.
Proud:
Haughty: arrogantly superior and disdainful.
Scoffer: speaking boastfully
insolent: /ˈinsələnt/showing a rude and arrogant lack of respect.
insolent is an angry outburst. This person is thinking so much of himself that when something displeases him, he burst out in angry pride.
7 There is one who pretends to be rich, but has nothing; Another pretends to be poor, but has great wealth.
Social media is full of people pretending to richer than they really are. On the other hand, many celebraties pretend to be poor when they are actually very rich.

5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.
proud=tall or high.
crooked (perverse, ‘iqqēš, means crooked or distorted; see comments on 2:15) living (3:32; 11:20), lying (12:22), hypocrisy (15:8), wicked conduct (15:9), wicked thoughts (15:26), pride (16:5), injustice (17:15), and dishonesty in business (20:10, 23).
9 Who can say, “I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin”?
None of us are exempt from pride.
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can give a discreet answer.
21 The crucible is for silver and the furnace for gold, And each is tested by the praise accorded him.
27 It is not good to eat much honey, Nor is it glory to search out one’s own glory.

23 A man’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.

14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

Greedy is literally, “large of soul” and refers to an uncontrolled, avaricious appetite for material things. Because greed is selfish it results in dissension or strife. In
