Ah- I’m Stuck, Im Stiff
Knot in your neck
Theres a nagging pain throughout the day
You just can’t move right…your encumbered, your inhibited, your immobilized
Stiff and Stuck in Sin, be Healed by Him
This was Jesus’ last teaching in a synagogue before Jesus was Crucified.
Luke 13:10-11
10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold (Take Note, Look), there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.
Our Sins and Struggles make us Stiff and Stuck
Spirit of Infirmity: She was experiencing demonic affliction
Just like a stiff neck, when we are in the wrong position or place we open ourselves up to attack and bondage
John 8:34
Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
Commits: Behaves in a certain manner
There is a consequence to actions, our behaviors, and our lifestyles
Good Behavior gets rewards, bad behavior gets consequences
Job 15:20
The wicked man writhes with pain all his days
Im not a “Wicked” person
David Search me O God and find any unclean thing in me...
Jeremiah 32:23
And they came in and took possession of it, but they have not obeyed Your voice or walked in Your law. They have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do; therefore You have caused all this calamity to come upon them.
Bent over: She was stiff and stuck because of her sin
18 years doubled over (bent in Half)
18 years-
Of having her head near her feet as dust kicked up as people walk
Her hair dragging on the ground as she goes from place to place
of not being able to look people in the eye, but upside down
What are the Sins, Sorrows and Struggles that have you bent over and bound seeing life from a perspective that God never intended for you.
Acts 8:21-23 (Peter Speaking to Simon the Sorcerer)
21 You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”
What are the things that have you not walking straight
Is it Bitterness against someone in your life?
Is it lust or fornication that you continuously and consciously walk in
Is there an idol the Lord is asking you to lay down (Relationship, a Job, Hobby)
HE Wants to Make you Straight
Could in NO WAY raise herself up: In and of herself she was helpless
Romans 5:6-9
6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
NLT- 6:- When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
When we were without Strength; when we were utterly helpless! (Luke 13: 11- Could in NO WAY Raise herself up )
Working out needing a spotter
Being in a state of not being able to help yourself
In due time= At the Right Time
Jesus is always, AT ALL Times, there ready, willing, Able and Wanting raise you up.
SO you are no longer, Stiff and Stuck in your Sin
Luke 13:12-13
12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Our Saviors Care and Compassion makes us Whole and Healed
His Care and Compassion Comes Through Healing words and a tender touch
You are loosed from your infirmity: (Healing Words)
His Words have the Power to create Life and Restore Lives
Psalm 33:6-
By the Words of the Lord the Heavens were created
Isaiah 43:18-19 (His Word Remind us that He will make all things New)
Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Be reminded of this truth that he wants to make loosen that bonds of Sin and Struggle in your Life that have you stiff and Stuck
Remember we are just like her: Can Not Raise ourselves up.
He Laid His hands on Her:
He Demonstrated Care and Compassion to Her with a Tender Touch,
Didn’t just heal from a distance
He doesn’t want to just heal us from a distance but wants to be known by us intimately
We cry out to the Lord in these moments of desperation, but dont desire deep relationship with him.
We think, my life is too much of a mess for him to come close, I don’t want Him to see and know all that is really going on.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
What is the burden that the Lord has given you that you have been neglecting to get your hands dirty with
We often pray from the sideline “Lord take care of this”
We are the Hands and Feet of Jesus-
Go and Live out His Love to Others Through a tender touch
Get your hands Dirty
Go and do it! :D
Luke 13:14-17
14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? 16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” 17 And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.
As the Living Water Flows In Our Lives He Is Glorified
(V:14) Religion and tradition has told many of us how to “Glorify God”
Work hard to Keep the Laws or traditions, Just as the Rabbi is rebuking the woman
That couldn’t be further from the Heart of God
Matthew 9:13- (Jesus Rebuking the Pharisees as they are asking Him why He is with “Sinner”)
13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
He wants your heart not head knowledge
He wants you actions not your lip service
They would untie the Livestock so they could sit and be satisfied
He is only Glorified as we live for Him
Jesus frees her so she can experience the Redemption and Restoration that He the “Living Water” can Give.
Living For Him
Jeremiah 29:12—14
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.
Being Filled By Him
John 4:13-14
13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
