How do we get thru our challenges when we are constantly exhausted and tired and worn out
Luke 22:41–43 NIV
41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
How do I deal with life's challenges? Thats the question on most people’s mind. There are so many things that we go thru everyday all day. Black or white, rich or poor, there seems to be some kinda struggle. We work sooo hard thru out our lifetimes to try to get what we need, to provide for our families and to do what needs to be done. We are trying to get to the end of the day with some sense of completion so that we can at some point just sit down.
But the world wont let us get there. There always seems to be something hindering us from getting to that sweet spot of accomplishment in fulfilling God’s will. I think sometimes we end up walking around like robots just doing stuff. Stuff that doesnt seem to go our way, things that happen that don't jive with our grand plan and we get frustrated.
v41 Its not dependent on people. sometimes God needs us to to know that He is the solution. We often look at this verse as Jesus being separated from the disciples, or Him needing some alone time. But I believe God is showing us that even when no one is around us, (the disciples had there own thing) even when we feel like we are out there and no one knows our troubles, He knows, He is still with us. I could see people around me, but they were not with me. We have to trust him in the dark times, when we feel like we are by ourselves. So...
v42 He is teaching us this because we get to a point when we are done. We do so much, we work so hard but stuff is still off the chain. Jesus worked for 3 years doing all the things He needed to do and folks didnt want to listen, seemed like the bad was getting worse Lord im done, I dont like what is happening and im done, still looking for a job and im done, We still having racial issues, done. Kids dont appreciate me, done. Parents getting on my nerves, done. We are in a society where everyone is done. Done helping , or caring, or hoping…remove this cup from me.
But the Jesus I serve says God I am tired and dont want to go on but not My will, but your will. He still helped us. even tho He knew what it meant, he knew the cost. Often times, we dont want to pay the cost. Jesus gave His life and we get argumentative about some hours. This is the part where we miss our blessing because we cant submit yet He still helped us. He is teaching us that even when times are hard we still need to submit, not my will but your will. this is the chasm between being done, and struggling and fussing, and being tired of being tired and feeling like the journey wont end. (“YET” is the chasm) I dont like what is happening, YET. I dont like that my neighbor got a new whip and um still struggling a driving my yugo, YET. I dont like that I am still looking for a new job, YET. My business is not taking off Like I wanted, YET. My church isnt...So...
v43 We have to understand that the blessing comes after you submit. We always do some kinda partial submission. Well, if this happens then I will kinda thro some extra commitment on there.
