Today Is The Day Of Our Thanksgiving!

Yes I know we have all had “Turkey Day” in our own homes and in the homes of family members!

But what is Thanksgiving to you? A day you have to do dishes more than before, the day you get to watch KY lose a football game to TENN, a chance to listen to the in-laws and outlaws you miss oh so much.? Or is it a day to make plans for Christmas shopping, catch up on some napping, think of what you are going to do with all those leftovers?

Thanksgiving is more than that! And it is more than one day!

Psalm 105:1-5KJV

1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. 2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. 3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. 5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

1.   Testify of God’s works in your life!

a.       Thank God for what was done for you! (take time to count your blessings)

The song says “Count Your Blessings name them one by one”

b.      When you thank Him you should also honour Him!

Proverbs 3:9-10KJV

9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

2.   Sing, and glorify God!

a.       Don’t just sing to yourself nor the ones around you sing a song to God! You will be surprised of just how blessed you will feel!

b.      Testify of His works in your life! Take time to remind yourself as well as others what the Lord has done for you!

c.       Rejoice don’t just be an “Eeyore” all your life!

3.   Pray, talk to God let him know you love Him!

a.       Seek Him in a powerful way!

Psalm 63:1KJV

1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

b.      Let the Lord know how you feel toward Him!

4.   Remember what He has done in your life!

Philippians 4:4-8KJV

4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
