But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Purity and Revival
Revive- It comes from the word to revive which is to quicken, make alive, flourish
Revival - The awakening of a people to God consciousness from time of decadence and unbelief to holiness and righteousness.
There is the historical record of this happening in Europe, America and other parts of the world.
It is usually a change in response of the general public to the message of the church and a period of warmth towards God and Christians
Personal revival and renewal takes this concept as applied to the general to the particular.
The focus of personal revival is to bring people back to God through salvation and regeneration as well as in the life of the believer in life.
Personal revival has its origin in God but its application and response in our actions.
Charles Spurgeon said
“Our strength shall be perfect when we have no independent will, but move and act only as we are moved and acted on by our gracious God.”1

This is why we need personal revival. It is saying we are in the place where we want to walk with God according to his desire, his will and his way. Wanting what he wants, doing what he commands to be done and loving what he loves
Is 40:30–31
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait (those who believe in him) for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
Eph 4:22–24

what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Purity
It originally meant purification as a religious duty, then it moved onto moral and spiritual duty in a higher way and as a state of the heart
To be pure, to be clean to be holy, to be a vessel for the master’s use
How are you to become pure
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Store the scripture in the heart
- Calvin in his commentary on this Psalm wrote “Here we are reminded, that however men may be convinced of their own wisdom, they are yet destitute of all right judgment, except as far as they have God as their teacher.”1

But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.

Purity required is not according to man’s standard, purity according to God’s standard is the goal.
A heart that is pure before God is one that is ready for the work of God.

I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ 34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”
