Jesus’ final command to his disciples was focused on making more disciples.

Jesus’ authority is our foundation
We must go to make
New disciples must be faithful
Jesus comforts us in the discomfort of missions

Jesus’ authority is our foundation (Matthew 28:18)

Jesus begins his final command with a truth about himself
We are not going on our own authority
The King is sending me

We must go to make (Matthew 28:19a)

The command to go is emphasized by the command to make
If we are going to make we must go, and if we are going to go we must make
The command is for all to all

New disciples must be faithful (Matthew 28:19b-20a)

New disciples are called to pledge their allegiance to the Kingdom of God
New disciples are called to learn what to believe and how to live
New disciples must be discipled

Jesus comforts us in the discomfort of missions (Matthew 28:20b)

Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus is with us
He is always with us
Missions is uncomfortable, but Jesus comforts us through it
