Psalm 16

From Sorrows (vs2-4)

Sorrow in the Lord is much different than outside of Him.

With God as our refuge, we know we always have something to look forward to.

We must realize the greatness of knowing where to look for good. (James 1:17)

We are spared from multiplied sorrows of trusting in idols.

From Being Shaken (vs5-8)

The reaffirmations mean David has given God the place He deserves in his life.

We must always lean on the right object.

As believers, what we are given cannot be shaken. (Hebrews 12:28)

Everyone trusts something to keep them up.

From Death (vs9-11)

vs10 is the key statement that leads to the joy expressed in

vs9 and 11.

All mankind has been on the track towards death since sin entered the world.

David had this confidence as he looked ahead to Jesus’ coming. (Acts 2:31)

We have joy and complete security in the Lord Jesus.
