Psalm: Psalm 82
-A Psalm to the king, he is given a God Ordained task to “rescue the week and needy” We however look to Christ, the one who perfectly rescued us, that is why we gather!
Scripture reading: Ephesians 2:4-10
FCF/Intro: “Altar Calls” why I don’t do them, and this sermon is one!?
Chapters 54-55 are a “lyrical announcement of salvation!
A broad look at the main issues and points throughout this response to both the work of the servant and really the work of God in calling Isaiah to “comfort” his people in Chapter 40.

The changing POWER of God’s Grace

-given to us in three pictures each dealing with a sphere of relationship that we are a part of.

The BARREN made PLENTIFUL

Note that the barrenness is not directly fixed (you are still the one who “has not been in labor”) yet the solution is the work of the SERVANT. he will enlarge our tent, he is the one that gives us plenty!
Note Galatians 4:27 tells us that this is a spiritual promise, something bigger is going on...

The ABANDONED is LOVED

The anger/hiding is of no comparison to the love/restoration! (verse 7-8)

The POOR made RICH.

the city/society
For NT believers we should think of heaven, that is the picture, the poor and destitute and needy are given not just A nice city, but THE nice City, it is heaven!
and with the wealth comes protection (security systems!)
verse 11 shows the need, verses 12ff show the blessing!

The effectual CALL of God’s Grace

Note on Effectual: by this is meant: when you hear God’s Call there will be life changing effects!

God’s COVENANT LOVE SUSTAINS

over and above human failure!

God’s HIGHER THOUGHTS REDEEM

and we need a complete and radical overhaul of our thoughts and this is the central though and force: change your thinking and come to God!

God’s ETERNAL WORDS BLESS

the blessing is salvation
the blessing is joy
the blessing is peace, shalom, deep and lasting permanent peace
the blessing is… blessing
