Review

The last time we were in Philippians together, we saw that our circumstances that come about in our lives are FOR Christ. Every outside circumstance, situation that passes, is an opportunity for Christ’s glory to shine. This is largely important in the message to the Philippians, as it shapes Paul’s thoughts throughout this particular discourse. We saw this in Paul’s emphatic announcement, “My imprisonment is for Christ!”
Therefore, because we see that all circumstances are for Christ, we should leverage each of those circumstances to advance the Gospel! Preach the good news in all situations. Regardless of what fate befalls you, be a proclaimer of Christ and His mercies. The only way this happens, really, is through bold proclamation. We can do good things and live gospel-oriented lives, but if we are not making the message of Christ’s sacrifice known, then we are just a handful of “good people.”
And so today, we take a look at what it means for the Gospel to press forward in the midst of difficult circumstances, we’re going to see Paul talk about a little different of a situation in his ministry. There are those who would
