God is a Giving God      ROMANS 1:18-32

Intro

 

1)      God gave them a knowledge of himself vs. 18-20

Vs.18 look up ungodliness; without conscious reference to God or proper feelings toward Him unrighteousness: devotions from moral rightness in heart, speech, and behavior

Vs. 19 inward revelation

Vs. 20 outward revelation  “They are w~/out excuse”

2)      God gave them over to Idolatry   vs.

21-25

21 “Futile in there thought”

Vs. 22 ref   *1 Corth.

1:25* “God foolishness is wiser than men”

*Psalm 14:1* The fool has said in his heart “There is no God”

Vs. 23 man was bad enough now he worshiped the very creatures they were given domain over

*Gen 1:26*  “… let them rule over the fish…birds..cattle & over all the earth, and over evry creeping thing that creeps

Vs. 25 “truth for a lie” they created their own gods

 

 

3)      God gave them over to immorality vs.26- 27

1Thess.

4  We are to abstain from sexual immorality and indulge in lustful passions as those who do not know God

     I Corth.

6:18 Flee immorality.

Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the                                      immoral man sins against his own body.

4)      God gave them over to depraved minds  vs.

28-32

The true character of man left alone.

We live out what is truly in our heart

 

 

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death

 

 

 

 

 

5)      God gave of himself

*2 Corinth 5:21* he made him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

 

*Gal 1:4* who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father

*Gal 2:20*  I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself up for me

 

*1 Tim 2:5-6*  For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

6)      God gave us a mission

Matt 28:19-20  “Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.?
