Learn about Gods Holy Spirit and His Gifts to you

There are a certain amount of places in the bible that if a minister opens that scripture some people just close up their minds (I have) some close their ears (I have) some just walk out of the building (never got that far) but there is nothing in this New Testament that is just to be left in the past or put in a bottle or left to ignorance yet we do just that!

The day of Pentecost has come! And we should be prepared to do what God wants for us to do in our lives not just what we are comfortable with! Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever!

The apostles didn’t want us to be ignorant of spiritual gifts!

1 it is like the old lady who was the first in her country to hook onto electric. Everyone thought something must be going on because she was very frugal a month later the meter reader came out and found the meter had barely made a turn he asked her if there was a problem she said no she only turned on her light at night so she could see to light her candles!

2. Some can’t understand what is going on during a service or whether to believe a “word” or prophecy because they understand too little many never ask for healing because they don’t understand it.

3. Some close up when they hear someone speak in tongues, just as bad some who are speaking don’t even possess the gift! We can’t afford to be ignorant!

1 Corinthians 12:1-7KJV

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

•     T or F? The more important the spiritual gift, the more mature and spiritual the person.

•     T or F? The major evidence of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life is his or her ability to speak in tongues.

•     T or F? We must ask God for the spiritual gift we want.

•     T or F? A person “under the influence” of the Spirit can’t help shouting out.

•     T or F? Some Christians have little to contribute to others.

•     T or F? In church meetings, only the pastor should teach, because he’s usually the only one with seminary training.

•     T or F? There is no real test for “spirituality.”

•     T or F? Some people are more important than others in the church as in every other situation.

12:1 The Corinthians misunderstood the manner in which the Holy Spirit works through individuals, and they abused the use of spiritual gifts, apparently regarding them as ends in themselves. In particular, they misunderstood the proper public use of the gift of tongues and it often confused the order in their meetings. They also misunderstood the power of the Spirit, viewing gift-operations of the Spirit as a compulsive possession, negating the will 1 Corinthians 14:32KJV

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

 Paul responds to this problem by showing the need for varied and multiple manifestations of the Spirit (ch. 12); the need for loving and unselfish motives in these manifestations (ch. 13); and the need for self-control and for keeping an orderly, edifying manner in corporate services (ch. 14).

1 Corinthians 12:1ESV NT Rev. Interlinear.

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.

1 Corinthians 12:3ESV NT Rev. Int.

3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.

Pharisees when they put someone on trial for believing in Jesus would make them say that He was anathema they would say it and expect to come back to church and start where they left off! It don’t work that way!
1 Corinthians 12:4ESV NT Rev. Int.

4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;
1 Corinthians 12:5ESV NT Rev. Int.

5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;

1 Corinthians 12:6ESV NT Rev. Int.

6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

1 Corinthians 12:7ESV NT Rev. Int.

7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

12:7 Paul identifies a spiritual gift as a supernatural ability bestowed on an individual by the Holy Spirit, not as a heightened natural ability. Thus, each gift is a manifestation of the Spirit, that is, visible evidence of His activity. The Holy Spirit bestows the gifts to whom He wills as the occasion recommends from the divine viewpoint.
