1 Corinthians 3:16-20 (NASB95)
16     Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

17     If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.

18     Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.

19     For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”;

20     and again, “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.”  [1]

Verse 16 - We are a HOLY Temple! Ephesians 2:19-21 (KJV)

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:  [2]

Verse 17 - If any man tries to hurt or destroy the Temple

1 Corinthians 3:17 (AMP)
If anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.[3]

Verse 18 - Don’t be wise in your own eyes!

"Isa. 5:21 KJV"

21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sightf!

Gal 6:3 "

3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

Verse 19, 20 - Worldly wisdom is foolishness!

1 Corinthians 1:20-21 (NASB95)
20     Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

21     For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

     [4]

Psalm 94:11 (AMP)
The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile—only a breath). [I Cor. 3:20.]

[5]

Verse 21 - Don’t think highly of things of man when we already have it all!

Romans 8:32 (AMP)
He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
