The Solution To Our Greatest Need.

Hebrews 9:22-25KJV

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

Introduction: In the Old Testament there are 450 references to shed blood (not including sacrifices and offerings) and a grand multitude of places speaking of the blood of Jesus (who fulfilled the OT) in the NT. And things that are repeated in the bible are repeated for a reason so we should pay close attention to shed blood in the Bible.

   a. Some would say money, better cars, a nice house, food, vacations, etc.

Matthew 16:26KJV

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

   b. Others would say better health.

Hebrews 9:27KJV

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

   c. Others might say better government. But there will be no perfect government till Jesus reigns.

    d. Mans greatest need is a right relationship with God.

Luke 16:26KJV

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

2. What are man’s solutions to their greatest needs?

 a. Doing good works, being good people but the scripture says different.

Ephesians 2:8-9KJV

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  b. Being religious. The Pharisees were religious

Matthew 5:20KJV

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

3. What is God’s solution to our greatest need? Shed blood!

a. Christ’s shed blood as a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28KJV

28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

 b. Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away sins.

John 1:29KJV

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

 c. Christ is our redeemer through His blood.

Colossians 1:14KJV

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

4. What do people do with God’s solution to our greatest need?

 a. Some ignore it, or neglect it.

Hebrews 2:3KJV

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

 b. Some accept it!

Conclusion: God’s solution to our greatest need can become effective for us as we turn from sin and the things of this life and turn to God in faith!

Acts 20:21KJV

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
