Jesus can calm your worst storm!

Mark 4:35-41 (KJV)
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Jesus had been teaching all day, one of the parables he had given that day was the Parable of the Sower, and after teaching all this time Jesus grew tired as could be expected so He got a pillow stepped into the boat and said to go to the other side.

What was about to take place was going to show he was powerful that

1.      Jesus had power over nature.

2.      This would strengthen the faith of his followers.

3.      Show Jesus has power to deliver us from any and all kinds of storms no matter how terrible!

Verse 35-36 Ever work so hard and become so tired that you don’t have time to get ready for sleep you just have to get some. So tired that rest is the one thing that matters? We all feel that.

Verse 37 suddenly a terrible storm comes. Just when we feel the weakest in body that is when terrible storms happen. This storm was no thunderstorm this was terrible

Matthew 8:24 (KJV)
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

At any time your storm can begin you may be already in the midst of a terrible storm right now! What is your life like tonight? Is life beginning to overtake you? Don’t forget Satan wants to destroy you!

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The boat was filled with water and they were in jeopardy!

Luke 8:23 (KJV)
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

1 John 5:4-5 (KJV)
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Verse 38 instead of asking for help earlier instead of praying for help they tried to handle the problems themselves and that is when things get worse!

Your storm may seem impossible to make it through! You may not know how to make it or if you can. Sometimes we even wonder if Jesus really does care! As they asked him v38 but they found out something Jesus did and does for you!

1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Verse 39 Jesus arose rebuked the wind and it stopped! He can do the same for you if you let Him!

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Verse 40-41 Jesus asked the disciples and He asks us why we are so fearful and where is our faith?
