Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

The bible is replete with these calls to personal Holiness, but it takes more than merely knowing these or mentally agreeing with them. But lets face facts, the church in America seems to be rapidly losing the battle for holiness and purity. You can watch many prominent “churches” online and would have a difficult time making a distinction between their service and the world. And there are many others that are rapidly moving in that same direction. Other churches appear to have piety and outward acts of devotion, but they cannot conceal the corruption underneath of a death faith.

Why is this? To me the reason is simple. The battle for holiness is not primarily about public professions and external displays. Rather if God’s people are going to be holy, we must first win the battle on the inside.
