Born to be wild...born again for eternity In his chat with Nicodemus, Jesus reveals much about being born again. The necessity of new birth (one cannot be a Christian unless we are born again). So what is this new birth? It is a birth involving both the waters of baptism, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within us. And when this happens to us, the evidence is easy to see, observable changes in our words, actions and desires. The basis of this new birth is Jesus' sacrifice, God's love for us, and our own faith. I'm sure we all know countless individuals who refuse to submit to this, who reject this incredible, eternity driven gift: friends, family, co-workers, strangers we haven't even met yet What about you? Have you been born again: born of water and the spirit...experienced the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. Have you been born through the Word of God, by actively responding to the gospel message? Are you responding to God's love and Christ's sacrifice by expressing your faith in baptism? Remember the words of Jesus: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:16 * Holy God, the earth is full of the glory of your love. May we your children, born of the Spirit, so bear witness to your Son Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, that all the world may believe and have eternal life through the One who saves, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. Going deeper: Isaiah 6:1-8 Psalm 29 Romans 8:12-17 John 3:1-17
