Spiritual warfare is far more present in our lives than we realize.
Receptivity to truth: Matthew 13:4,19
Temptations: 1 Thessalonians 3:5
Accusations: Revelation 12:9-10
Fear: Luke 22:31-32
Psalm 91:1–2 ESV
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:11–16 ESV
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. 14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. 15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
There are two big ideas to get from this passage:
God is not fickle, he is faithful.
His default is to protect.
Walk with God, Satan can’t keep up.
James 4:4–8 ESV
4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
James 4:10 ESV
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
How do we walk with God?
Stop looking for the line.
Walk in the light.
Don’t ignore God.
Psalms for Spiritual Warfare:
