Your name has changed - Marriage
When my mum married my father… she forsook her parents’ name. Her new name reflected her changed status, priorities, life. That ceremony was a turning point for her – Everything changed. She got a new Identity.
In fact, can you imagine if her lifestyle hadn’t changed after that? If she’d carried on living with her parents – Her culture would have ostracised her. Her relationships would have deteriorated. My Father would have been gutted… to say the least. She’d have been taking my Dad’s name in vain.
When you put on a uniform – for a sports team or a job, you wear a name. You say something about that person. When we come to faith, we become the ‘bride of Christ’
