Introduction

This morning, we will be starting the second half of our study in the book of Ephesians. Up to this point, we have looked at some of the great doctrinal truths of the Christian faith. We looked at what it means to be redeemed by God, saved by grace, sealed in the Holy Spirit, and brought together as the church. All of these truths from the first three chapters of Ephesians represents the right doctrines of the Christian faith or what we refer to as orthodoxy. And Paul takes us to the very moutain top of Christian truth at the end of chapter 3 when he prays that we would come to know the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge. Some people think that the study of doctrine is boring or non-experiential but without a correct grasp of the core truths of Christianity, you cannot hope to ascend to this peak that gives you a view of the fullness of God’s love for you!
We teach about the depravity of sin, so that our hope would rest soely on the love of God. We learn about election and predestination because it guarantees us that nothing can separate us from Christ.
