John 1:12–13 (NASB95)
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
“As many as received Him” – This is the requirement for salvation.
Receiving Christ / Refusing Christ
Have you accepted His offer of redemption? Have you sold yourself to Christ?
There is nothing you can offer God to make atonement for sin. “We are not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold –”
We must “receive Him” as the ransom for our redemption. He has offered up Himself.
Have you accepted His offer of redemption?
Rejecting the offer of Christ, one will pay for His sin.
Death has passed upon all men for all have sinned.
Psalm 49:7–9 NASB95
No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him— For the redemption of his soul is costly, And he should cease trying forever— That he should live on eternally, That he should not undergo decay.
To those who receive Christ –
Psalm 49:15 NASB95
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, For He will receive me. Selah.
To those who reject Christ –
Psalm 49:14 NASB95
As sheep they are appointed for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; And the upright shall rule over them in the morning, And their form shall be for Sheol to consume So that they have no habitation.
A Ransom for Sin
The Gospel: “The Son of Man (came) to give His life a ransom for many.” (Jesus - Matthew 20:28)
1 Peter 1:18–19
· We are “not redeemed with perishable things (like silver or gold).
· The ransom was paid with the “precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.”
Precious speaks to the pure holiness; His identity; His great love.
John 6:37 (AMP)
All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me].
