They Will Hate You

Jesus told the disciples that the world would hate them
I am going away and the world will hate you
John 15:18–19 LEB
If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.
you wont be like them,
you will be different
Satan’s world is against me so you also
Jesus was a light that exposed their sin
Jesus miracles shows that He is God
sooo if Jesus is telling us that people will hate us, persecute us,
later on Jesus will tell them that they will kill us

The Game Changer

Jesus needs to give them some encouragement
give them a reason not to head for the hills
John 15:26 LEB
“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father—that one will testify about me.
The Advocate/ Holy Spirit
Called to ones aid; a legal assistant; the intercessor
advocate, helper
one along side
Comforter
He will change the heart
every one born is a hater of God
does not have the ability to come to God

9:3 Humanity, by falling into a state of sin, has completely lost all ability to choose any spiritual good that accompanies salvation.4 Thus, people in their naturala state are absolutely opposed to spiritual good and dead in sin,5 so that they cannot convert themselves by their own strength or prepare themselves for conversion.6

Their sin nature is opposed to God
they have to be converted to be able to accept
The Effectual call

10:2 This effectual call flows from God’s free and special grace alone, not from anything at all foreseen in those called. Neither does the call arise from any power or action on their part;7 they are totally passive in it. They are dead in sins and trespasses until they are made alive and renewed by the Holy Spirit.8 By this they are enabled to answer this call and to embrace the grace offered and conveyed in it. This response is enabled by a power that is no less than that which raised Christ from the dead.9

without the Holy Spirits work in the heart that person cannot understand God’s word
there is a total block
they will remain a hater of Jesus, hater of the Father
in fact in chapter 16
John 16:1–3 LEB
“I have said these things to you so that you will not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogue, but an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think they are offering service to God. And they will do these things because they do not know the Father or me.
they will kill you and think they are doing it for God
but they don’t , even with all their Bible study
1 Corinthians 2:14 LEB
But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Our Witness

John 15:27 LEB
And you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
we need to tell others what Jesus did for us
We need to SHARE our experience with Jesus
a witness tells what they know to be the truth

A Look At The Expansion of the Early Church

Why and how did it grow so fast
Religious Explanations to why the Church grew so fast
Power of the Holy Spirit
The powerful message that God died for them
Messengers that were willing to die for this message
Sociological Explanations
Greek the common language
Concern for the poor, generosity
concern for those discarded
Our witness also lives out what Jesus did for us internally
How we are changed
the Love put into us / The peace given to us

Persecution Will Follow

John 16:1–2 LEB
“I have said these things to you so that you will not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogue, but an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think they are offering service to God.
The religious people are the ones
Excommunicating non vaxers
Killing
John 16:1 LEB
“I have said these things to you so that you will not fall away.
Jesus want us to know its coming
Jesus wants us to trust in Him
Romans 8:28 LEB
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose,
Jesus wants us to rejoice
Matthew 5:10–11 LEB
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me.
Matthew 5:12 LEB
Rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.
Pastor Cotes in Alberta Canada in jail was able to minister to his cell block mates
many more people are hearing his sermons on you tube
his church attendance has increased
all because he was faithful to his calling by Jesus
Remember … The Comforter is in and with you always
to add His witness to yours
to change lives
to bring to mind what is to be said
to remind you of who you are
the road ahead is rough, but be glad your reward is great in Heaven
the only hope that our witness will be heard or understood is because the Holy Spirit works in their heart
