Do the text
Acts 10:44-48 (ESV)
44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.
44. While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit came down upon all who were listening to the word. Lit., “fell upon all.” Cf. 11:15, where Peter reports the same. The gift of the Spirit is accorded to the Gentiles who were listening to Peter’s message and welcoming it. They immediately become part of those “who believe in him” (v 43).

45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.
Now we learn they were Jewish Christians.
were bewildered because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on Gentiles too. The bewilderment stems from the fact that up to this time in Acts only Jewish converts have received it. The reception of it by Gentiles shows that the preaching of the Word among Gentiles has the same effect as it had among Jews earlier (cf. 2:38; 8:20).
46 For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared,

47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.

b. This is what revival looks like.
II. What is God starting in you?
Revival begins on our knees.
Even and Pentecost began in the upper room. They were to pray and waited for the promise.
B. God has begun in you!
a. Are you seeking him.
C. I can’t totally define what God is doing in me.
III. Stay in Revival
Revelation 2:4-5 (ESV)
4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
We need to hear the warning this church presents to us.
Keener, C. S. (1999). Revelation (p. 109). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing House.
This rebuke links the ‘what is the case’ of the narratio to the ‘this is what you must do’ of the dispositio which begins at verse 5: So remember from where you have fallen; repent and act as you did before. The Ephesian angel is jolted out of his complacency by being described as a fallen angel. That he is not in the same league as Satan and his angels (Rev. 12:9), however, is made clear by his ability to repent and act as you did before.
Boxall, I. (2006). The Revelation of Saint John (p. 50). London: Continuum.
The alternative is that Christ will come to you and remove your menorah from its place. The coming of Christ, whether on the last day or in the Eucharist, can be experienced as either salvation (as at 3:11) or judgement (here and at 2:16). This warning is generally taken as a threat to the Ephesian congregation that it will lose its status as the pre-eminent church in the province, or even its very status as a church, unless it repents.
