I. Escape or turn over
We see the world, and we may be prepared to escape. Are we ready to turn over space to Jesus?
5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (2 Ti 1:6–7). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
A. Paul Prepares his comment
a. Sometimes when you are ready to give something out you start with a positive.
b. You can then deal with the issue , after which another positive
B. You don’t have to be fearful or insecure.
a. You do’t have to hide because the Holy Spirit lives within you.
C. Revival define
REVIVE, rē̇-vīvʹ, REVIVING, rē̇-vīvʹing: “To revive” is the tr of חָיָה, ḥāyāh, “to live,” “cause to live,” used of restoration to life (Gen 45:27; Jgs 15:19, etc); of rebuilding (Neh 4:2); of restoration to well-being (Ps 85:6 [RV “quicken”]; 138:7; Isa 57:15; Hos 6:2; 14:7); of Jeh’s gracious work for His people (Hab 3:2, “revive thy work in the midst of the years,” etc); “reviving” is the tr of מִחְיָה, miḥyāh, “preservation,” or “means of life” (Ezr 9:8, 9). “Revive” occurs in the NT as the tr of ἀναζάω, anazáō, “to live again” (Rom 7:9, and 14:9, AV “Christ both died, and rose, and revived,” RV [omitting “and rose”] “Christ died and lived again,” záō).
In 1 Macc 13:7 RV we have “And the spirit of the people revived,” ἀναζωπυρέω, anazōpuréō,
2 Timothy 1:6-7
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (2 Ti 1:6–7). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
“to stir or kindle up as a fire,” the same word as in 2 Tim 1:6, RV “stir up the gift of God, which is in thee,” m “Gr ‘stir into flame.’ ”
In view of the frequent modern use of “revive” and “revival,” it is worthy of notice that it is to Timothy himself the exhortation is addressed. We too often merely pray for “revivals,” forgetting that it is for us to “stir into flame” the gift of the Spirit which we have already received of God. It is ours from Him, but we let it lie dormant, as a slumbering ember merely.
D. Turn over
a. I have spent the last year turning things over to God.
b. God has changed my life, again.
C. Will you fan into flames and turn your life over?
II. Ready or not
Sometimes we are willing to make space rather then turn space over to God.
a. We see the world, and we may be prepared to escape. Are we ready to turn over space to Jesus?
b. God wants us to go deeper
42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into.. 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (Mt 24:42–44). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
Ready
The clear meaning of this word group is preparation both in the active sense of “making ready” and in the passive of “readiness,” “ability” or “resolution.”
Grundmann, W. (1964–). ἕτοιμος, ἑτοιμάζω, ἑτοιμασία, προετοιμάζω. G. Kittel, G. W. Bromiley, & G. Friedrich (Eds.), Theological dictionary of the New Testament (electronic ed., Vol. 2, p. 704). Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans.
The last requirement Jesus put to His disciples with particular urgency: διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ὑμεῖς γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι, ὅτι ᾗ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὥρᾳ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται, Mt. 24:44; Lk. 12:40. It is illustrated in the parable of the Ten Virgins. In virtue of it the life of Christians becomes a life of conscious and vigilant expectation of a goal which brings salvation and of openness to the possibilities of action determined by this goal. This readiness gives the Christian life a distinctive dynamic character.

Jesus’s disciples do not know when Jesus will come but they do know that he will come, and so they must be ready to meet him at an unexpected time.
Turner, D. L. (2008). Matthew (p. 591). Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Academic.
We must be ready for the unexpected? What does that mean for the church?
1. Usually I start out with my soul being right.
2. Then I want to share the gospel with my family who do not know.
3. Anyone who does not know?
C. How we look at the world must change
a.
On the primary level this means we will nurture a lively expectation of his Parousia.
Our entire worldview must be kingdom-oriented, as Jesus has been emphasizing throughout his ministry.
Our hope lies in God’s fully established kingdom on earth, not in the kingdoms we create.
b. As we nurture the blessed hope of Jesus’ return daily, the grace of God teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions “and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age” (Titus 2:12)
C. A faithful and good heart lives righteously regardless of circumstances. Whether we are with other believers or not, whether we think that we will be caught or not, a pure heart is intent on producing responsible behavior (cf. comments on 5:20; 15:18–19).
