POWER OF UNITY

10 Now I exhort you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all say the same thing and there not be divisions among you, and that you be made complete in the same mind and with the same purpose.

a. We have to have unity in the Purpose - To know Jesus and Share Jesus. Advance His Kingdom.

What is God saying to you about the purpose?

Before you can know the Kingdom you have to know the King.

Loving God and Loving others.

b. We become so tempted to find our identities in relationships, college, jobs, sports..

Running back and forth never getting filled with true Identity.

You were created in HIS HEART. Know His Heart and you began to know your identity.

b. We have to have Unity in the Vision - Share Jesus with the World.

- Become a Disciple and make Disciples.

Matthew 10:32-33

If you don’t acknowledge me before others then I wont acknowledge you before my Father.

Vision to see yourself praying, sharing God, and worshiping. Becoming a piller to this youth group!

You have to become a disciple before making disciples.

C. What is a Disciple?

A student, that learns and grows. Followers of Christ.

God needs to lead your life for you to lead others.

We are not trying to be like each other. But we need to advance toward the same goal.

Ephesians 4:1-16

1. As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

a. We are called to be peacemakers.

The Opposite of humble is pride, gentle is aggression, patient is impatient, and opposite of love is hate.

SIN RUINS UNITY. DIVISION IS THE ENEMY OF UNITY.

COMPROMISE ruins the CONNECTION

Word of God says if you have a problem with your brother, Don’t even come and lay your burdens to worship Him. Be united with them in Love.

16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

These Two natures are at War Over You.

ONE OF THE REASONS JESUS DIED.

DIED TO GIVE US A NEW NATURE.

THE WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO MAN LEADS TO DEATH.

WHATEVER YOU FEED THE MOST WILL GROW

b. Sinful nature Grieves and quenches the move of the Holy Spirit.

WE CAN HINDER JESUS

We can resist Him. (Acts 7:51)

We can lie to Him (Acts 5:3)

We can Grieve Him when we don’t let the Holy Spirit produce Holy and Fruitful lives.

We quench the Spirit when we don’t allow Him to endue us with power for witnessing.

UNITY HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET THE HOLY SPIRIT PRODUCE FRUIT IN YOU.

GALATIANS 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

If I was to take a full grape and take the seeds out of the grape and plant it in the ground what would happen?

It would grow another Grape with the right care.

When you act or display the fruit of Gods spirit, you are planting a seed is someones life.

a. My Son is getting into everything. Aggressive. Instead of using the words stop, don’t, or raising my voice.

We use words from the fruit of the Spirit. We Plant SEEDS so He will bear fruit.

b. WE all have sinned and fallen short. Some of us get off track.

PROVERBS 17:17

17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

UNITY REQUIRES ACCOUNTABILITY

A. I WAS WORRIED BECAUSE I AM ABOUT TO GO FULL TIME MINISTRY.

My wife said what are you worried about? Have faith.

Pulled me back into unity of the faith in the Lord Jesus.

Brothers can see danger in our lives as we look ourselves.

PRAYER HOLDS UNITY TOGETHER

James 5:16 NIV

16” Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

HEALING HAPPENS IN UNITY

Confession releases the inner struggle out of you (term-oil)

Encountering Honesty and Love

BIG LIE OF THE ENEMY IS NO ONE WILL LOVE YOU IF THEY KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.

Repentance keeps it out of you.

“It is okay to be broken, but it’s not okay to stay there.”

GOD LOVES US SO MUCH HE IS WILLING TO MEET US RIGHT WHERE WE ARE AT BUT HE LOVES US SO MUCH HE DOESN’T WANT US TO STAY THERE.

a. Sign is sharing troubles and hardships with each-other.

Standing together in adversity. Help some

PRAYER HOLDS UNITY TOGETHER

Where two or more or more are gathered.

Compassion toward one another. Empathy.

Jesus is with you and heals you.

Prayer bring Jesus to be the center of your life.
